It was a whirlwind week for design devotees. Thousands of industry aficionados (including Business of Home’s editor in chief Kaitlin Petersen, home furnishings director Billy Fisher, and yours truly) packed our most comfortable flats and flocked to North Carolina to check out the latest furniture and decor offerings at High Point, and the collections definitely didn’t disappoint. From a rainbow-speckled boucle-upholstered bed to a triangle-shaped ottoman with built-in storage, here are some of the most memorable debuts we saw at Fall Market.
In Hamilton Wrenn North, Summer Classics unveiled an enchanting selection of outdoor-friendly designs that we’ll be dreaming of for weeks. Along with a fresh assortment of Wendy Jane-designed weatherproof throw pillows, including one clad in cheetah print performance velvet, the brand showcased some of its latest outdoor lighting collection in an airy plant-filled room draped in breezy woven pendants.
After a long day of walking, Currey and Company's newest offerings perked us right back up. While the ethereal Piero Rectangular 15-Light Multi-Drop pendant first grabbed our attention, the bold drip-style Liquid Gold console table by Sasha Bikoff left us feeling equally inspired.
Thibaut rolled out five new collections just in time for High Point. The brand’s showroom was teeming with energizing colors and patterns, including a banded, ombre-style wallcovering called Bozeman Stripe and a nubby, stain-resistant upholstery fabric named Dolcetto.
Miranda Kerr unveiled Tranquility, her second collection for Universal Furniture. Inspired by the designer and skincare aficionado’s affinity for organic stones and crystals, standouts included a white lacquered chest in a dimpled plaster finish with palm-sized ceramic rosettes named Fleur Hall, and a petite side table with a solid rose quartz top that the supermodel told us was one of her favorites from the series.
At the Sherrill Furniture showroom, we swooned over the brand’s collaboration with husband-and-wife design duo Jim and Phoebe Howard. Brimming with fuzzy boucle-clad lounge chairs, sculptural table lamps, and glossy burl-wood-veneered consoles, the Mr. & Mrs. Howard collection was every bit as elegant yet energetic as expected.
Houston-based designer Nina Magon launched her first-ever lighting collection with Studio M Lighting. The innovative assortment featured eight sophisticated fixtures including a bold brass cage-style floor lamp called Zeppelin and our current crush, an iridescent paneled pendant with dichroic glass shades named Megalith.
North Carolina–based brand Wildwood blessed visitors with a delightful display of furniture, lighting and decor accessories designed by Meg Braff. The exuberant collection pays homage to mid-20th century Palm Beach, offering everything from metal table lamps with scalloped shades to mirrors with woven cane frames, and our personal favorite, a white plaster chandelier in a playful pineapple motif.
Inside the Nathan Anthony showroom, creative director and lead designer Tina Nicole walked us through the whimsical Alais collection. Teeming with spherical silhouettes and spirited hues, highlights included a waterfall-style bench with oversized ball feet and a boucle-upholstered bed frame with rainbow-colored speckles that made my heart skip a beat.
Hooker Furniture showcased their new Linville Falls collection inside its showroom at the International Home Furnishings Center (IHFC). Inspired by organic shapes and color palettes, standouts in the 43-piece assortment included a rectangular wooden dining table with a weathered finish named North Fork and a rustic sideboard with glass door fronts called Hobs Knob.
Ralph Lauren Home's latest selections were nothing short of exquisite. True to the fashion icon’s signature style, the brand’s newest additions were marked by rich materials, sleek silhouettes and impeccably tailored accents, such as a mahogany campaign-inspired chest with hand-carved detailing and a Regency-style writing desk with inset leather panels and gold tooling.
Century Furniture debuted a stylish assortment of fall-friendly offerings inside its showroom at 200 Steele. While impressed by the sculptural marble side tables and statement sideboards that we surveyed throughout the space, it was ultimately a super curvy sectional sofa upholstered in a woolly boucle that took our breath away.
Loloi Rugs showcased two super cool collaborations that we couldn’t stop gushing about. The first features three graphic hand-knotted carpet collections named Bond, Harrison and Milton, designed by Jesse Carrier and Mara Miller of Carrier and Company; while the latter included seven SoCal-inspired rug lines–along with decorative pillows, throws and wall art–created by interior tastemaker Amber Lewis.
Norwalk Furniture presented a fresh assortment of chic, small space-savvy pieces inside its IHFC showroom. In addition to a curvy barrel back chair named Madison and a clean-lined sofa called Gastonia, we spotted a triangle-shaped leather ottoman with a hidden storage compartment that would look perfectly on-trend in a space of any size.
In Hamilton Wrenn North, designer Laura Kirar walked us through her new capsule collection for McGuire Furniture. Drawing inspiration from urban modernity and the natural world, the 16-piece assortment was brimming with raw textures, organic materials and thoughtful accents, including an end table with a honed marble top and looping bronze legs and dining table with rawhide fringe detailing.
Legendary designer Mark D. Sikes launched his second collaboration with Chaddock at High Point. The City, Coastal, Country collection featured a range of customizable upholstery and casegood designs inspired by distinct American geographic regions, including a rustic side table with vertical ribbing and a charming lounge chair with curved arms and contrast welting.
Luxury carpet-maker Edward Fields, whose dynamic designs adorn the floors of iconic residences including the White House and Philip Johnson’s Glass House, launched a new rug label named Area. The arresting assortment featured eight eye-catching patterns composed of plush New Zealand wool, including the art deco-inspired Plume and multicolored Speckle.
