At Mimi & Hill, designers design.

Our studio is structured differently from many interior design firms. Our designers are not responsible for procurement. They are not project managers. They are not construction managers. We have dedicated team members handling those parts of the business so our designers can spend their time doing what they do best: creating exceptional interiors.

And right now, we have an extraordinary roster of projects to design.

Depending on your experience level, you will work alongside our Principals and design team to:

Develop concepts and overall design direction
Space plan and think critically about how a home should live
Source and specify furniture, lighting, textiles, finishes, plumbing, hardware and materials
Design kitchens, bathrooms, built-ins and custom millwork
Develop furniture plans, lighting plans, elevations and other design drawings
Create thoughtful material and finish palettes
Source vintage, antique and one-of-a-kind pieces
Develop custom furniture and furnishings
Prepare beautiful, compelling client presentations
Participate in design meetings, site visits and installations
Collaborate with our project management, construction and procurement teams to carry the design vision through execution

Most importantly, you will have the opportunity to actually design. A lot.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We care about experience, but we care just as much about talent, taste, curiosity and potential.

You may be the right fit if you:

Have a genuinely strong eye for interiors and an instinct for proportion, scale, color and material
Love both interior architecture and furnishings
Are excited by the process of taking a home from a blank plan to a completely considered interior
Have experience with AutoCAD and/or other relevant design software
Can communicate ideas visually and clearly
Are detail-oriented without losing sight of the larger design concept
Are collaborative, curious and open to feedback
Follow the design world and have a strong knowledge of—or desire to learn—vendors, makers, artists, antiques and materials
Thrive in a creative, fast-moving studio

For more experienced candidates, we are looking for a demonstrated ability to develop and carry a sophisticated design concept with increasing independence.

For earlier-career candidates, we are looking for exceptional potential, strong technical fundamentals and an eagerness to learn.

Mimi & Hill is an award-winning residential interior design firm working on high-end new construction, large-scale renovations and full-home furnishing projects throughout New Jersey, New York and beyond. Our work is layered, sophisticated and highly individual to each client, and our designers are involved in the creative process from the earliest concepts through the final details.

We know titles in the design industry can mean very different things at different firms. Don’t worry about deciding whether you are an Assistant, Junior, Designer or Senior before applying.
