Thos. Moser is seeking a Director of Trade Sales to lead and grow our business within the luxury residential design community, beginning with a strong focus on New York City and expanding nationally over time.
This is an entrepreneurial, hands-on role combining direct sales, relationship development, project management, and long-term channel building. The Director will personally cultivate relationships with leading interior designers, architects, and other trade partners; identify and convert new opportunities; and manage projects from initial specification through installation.
Working closely with Thos. Moser’s showrooms, marketing team, designers, and craftspeople, this individual will serve as a visible ambassador for the brand and a trusted resource to the design community. Responsibilities include:
• Building and managing a pipeline of luxury residential trade business
• Developing relationships with leading designers, architects, and firms
• Generating new business through proactive outreach, events, referrals, and industry engagement
• Guiding clients through product selection, customization, quoting, ordering, and delivery
• Maintaining disciplined follow-up and pipeline reporting in HubSpot
• Representing Thos. Moser at design-industry events and within the New York market
• Helping shape the strategy, tools, and service model required to expand the trade business nationally
The primary focus will be luxury residential design, with opportunities to support select hospitality, workplace, and institutional projects.
For more than 50 years, Thos. Moser has created American-made furniture by hand in Auburn, Maine. We believe in living better with fewer things—created with care, built to last, and rooted in enduring design.
• 7+ years of experience in trade sales, business development, luxury furniture, interior design, or a related field
• Established relationships within the New York interior design and architecture community strongly preferred
• Demonstrated ability to originate, develop, and close high-value residential projects
• Strong understanding of the design specification, quoting, ordering, and installation process
• Highly proactive and comfortable building a business through direct outreach and relationship development
• Excellent communication, presentation, and client-service skills
• Strong project management and follow-through, with close attention to detail
• Ability to work independently while collaborating across sales, marketing, design, manufacturing, and operations
• Comfort using CRM and pipeline-management tools; HubSpot experience is a plus
• Appreciation for craftsmanship, enduring design, and the value of American-made furniture
• Based in the New York City area, with the ability to travel regularly to client meetings, industry events, Thos. Moser showrooms, and our Auburn, Maine workshop
The ideal candidate combines the instincts of a relationship-driven salesperson with the discipline of a business builder. They are credible with sophisticated designers, energized by creating new opportunities, and motivated to build an important national growth channel for an established American design brand.
At Thos. Moser, we believe in living better with fewer things—created with care, built to last, and rooted in enduring American design.
Since 1972, we have designed and handcrafted furniture at our workshop in Auburn, Maine. Each piece is made by people whose names and hands are connected to the finished work, using sustainably sourced North American hardwoods and time-honored woodworking techniques. The result is furniture defined by honest materials, purposeful design, and a quiet commitment to quality.
Our work can be found in homes, universities, libraries, workplaces, and cultural institutions across the country. We serve clients through our showrooms, digital channels, trade relationships, and close partnerships with architects and designers.
More than fifty years after our founding, Thos. Moser remains committed to the same essential idea: making furniture of lasting value that becomes more meaningful through use and over generations. Today, we are building on that heritage while thoughtfully expanding the reach of the brand and welcoming more people into the story of our work.
