1. Behind the Windows
Each spring and fall, designers transform window displays at the Atlanta Decorative Arts Center to coincide with Design ADAC and Discover ADAC. For the 12th installation, the center will be unveiling two vignettes to honor ADAC founder John C. Portman Jr. and his impact on the design community. Portman passed away in 2017 after a storied career as an architect, real estate developer, entrepreneur and artist.

2. Hambidge Center Gallery and Auction Preview
In preparation for the center’s annual Art Auction, which will take place May 5 at ADAC, head to suite 417 to catch a preview of the artwork. The exhibit will be open each day of Design ADAC and will feature more than 200 works.

3. New Debuts
Throughout the event, brands will host new launches and special exhibits, while Dolce Decor will be celebrating the opening of its new showroom at ADAC. Some of the debuts to be on the lookout for include the Epicurean Color collection from Robert Allen, the Kinship collection from Phillip Jeffries, and, at Minotti by HA Modern, Todd Murphy’s first solo exhibition in Atlanta since he moved to New York.

4. Keynote Speakers
The three-day event is jam-packed with talks from designers, editors and industry experts. Day one kicks off with designer Nathan Anthony and entertainer Julia Reed’s talk on weaving together design and culinary arts, followed by Hamish Bowles, international editor at large at Vogue, in conversation with Dara Caponigro, creative director at Schumacher.

On the 25th, don’t miss designers Lindsey Coral Harper, Katie Leede and Ruthie Sommers as they discuss their southern roots with Carolyn Englefield, interiors editor at Veranda. Then on the closing day, hear from designers Brian McCarthy and Suzanne Rheinstein, who will share words of wisdom from their careers, and Victoria Hagan and Ray Boothe, who will share insight into their latest books.

5. Southeast Designers and Architect of the Year Awards
Design ADAC culminates with the Southeast Designers and Architect of the Year Awards gala on April 26, but before the winners are revealed, meet all the nominees on the evening of April 25 at the Jim Thompson showroom.
