We’re just weeks away from spring and design brands across the globe dropped fresh, spirited collections to welcome the warm weather season in style. From contemporary checkerboard rugs to futuristic Shaker-style chairs, here are highlights from the recent round of releases.
Lulu and Georgia unveiled its highly anticipated collaboration with multidisciplinary designer Sarah Sherman Samuel. The eclectic assortment spans furniture, textiles and decor accents inspired by old European architecture, including a retro hand-knotted checkerboard rug and a fully upholstered oversized bed frame available in your choice of linen, velvet or boucle.
Jillian O’Neill debuted a streamlined capsule collection called Back to Basics. The simple, sophisticated series offers six clean-lined designs customizable to your heart’s content, including a gently curved settee and two-toned dining table with slightly tapered legs.
Chilewich Contract introduced a fresh graphic design named Cane. Inspired by the grooves and ridges of bamboo plants, the series offers flooring, rugs, wall textiles and window coverings marked by tonal linework, all composed of the brand’s signature phthalate-free TerraStrand yarns and available in four versatile colorways including Cacao (deep chocolate brown), Crema (silvery off-white), Harbor (inky blue) and Quarry (gray).
Danish design brand Gubi launched Bohemian 72, its first ever collection of outdoor furniture. Based on archival drawings by Italian artist and designer Gabriella Crespi, the series features a quartet of sculptural designs crafted from bent rattan canes, including a lounge chair, three-seater sofa, ottoman and floor lamp.
Kelly Wearstler debuted the Tech Lighting line. The series spans four architectural light collections—dubbed Esfera, Ebell, Phobos and Kulma—inspired by the tension between technology and beauty. They are available in a variety of profiles, including the minimalist linear Esfera pendant and the sleek cylindrical Ebell floor lamp.
Clay McLaurin and Todd Piercy launched a handwoven textile brand named McLaurin & Piercy. Designed and crafted in the brand’s new Los Angeles–based studio and mill, the collection offers more than 100 different performance and indoor/outdoor fabrics composed of all-natural materials, as well as wallpaper and textiles, including a houndstooth pattern made of wool called Stonington, and a vintage-inspired striped print dubbed Lawrence.
New Orleans–based paint brand Jolie Home released its first ever wall and trim collection. The series includes 24 eco-friendly, low VOC shades designed specifically for walls, millwork and masonry, such as a soft pink hue named Blossom and our current crush, a vibrant emerald green called Euphoria.
Los Angeles–based showroom and design studio Martin & Brockett launched a stunning new furniture collection. The heirloom-worthy assortment features 40 pieces ranging from sofas and coffee tables to benches and armchairs with characterful accents and modern silhouettes, including a canary yellow upholstered ottoman with handcarved feet named Lupa and a deep blue console table composed of contiguous arches called Arcade.
Artists Aaron Blendowski and Sue Ravitz unveiled an exuberant collection called “Isolated from Function.” On display at New York–based gallery Superhouse Vitrine through March 20, the selection features a dozen traditional furniture forms reimagined as colorful, futuristic pieces, including a bright green Shaker chair with dripping arms dubbed Winzer and a trippy kaleidoscopic braided rug named Untitled.
Danish home and office brand Montana Furniture released an eco-friendly range of chairs named Marée. Designed by Jens Martin Skibsted, the sleek ergonomic design features a grooved seat composed of 100-percent recycled plastic, and is available in eight eye-catching colorways—including powder blue (Flint), cherry red (Beetroot), and kelly green (Parsley)—with legs in both chrome and lacquered finishes.
Todd Merrill Studio debuted a shapely series of custom handmade-to-order sofas called Channel Tufted. The collection boasts three art deco-inspired designs with architectural profiles and tubular back cushions, including a streamlined sectional, an aluminum-framed sofa and a curvy barrel-backed settee named Sugarbowl.
