The partnership of Giancarlo Valle and Jane Keltner de Valle, Studio Valle de Valle is an award-winning international design practice dedicated to creating spaces that are playful, studied and unexpected. The studio’s holistic approach encompasses architecture, interiors and the decorative arts, across residential and commercial disciplines.
This junior-level design role will focus on FFE for client projects as well as internal studio initiatives. You will collaborate across multiple projects at once to support the interior design team, gaining a deep understanding of VDV’s aesthetic and design process. The role requires someone who is highly organized, has a deep passion for design, and is eager to dive in, take initiative, and contribute where needed.
This is a full time role and is required to be in our Canal Street office in Manhattan.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Help prepare presentations, proposals and schedules for projects
- Develop fresh concepts, fabric and material schemes that align with VDV design language
- Assist in FF&E selection and sourcing
- Work with vendors to source and track samples, fabrics and furniture
- Assist with FFE procurement, including billing, purchasing, and tracking items through to delivery
- Develop furniture plans, elevations and details in Rhino
- Prepare sample packages for client approval
- Maintain organization of studio’s project files and physical samples, including our fabric library
- Maintain studio archive of past client projects
REQUIREMENTS
- 1-2 years full time working experience at a high end residential design firm or significant, relevant internship experience
- Proficiency with a technical design drawing software such as Rhino, SketchUp or CAD
- Knowledge base and catalog of US vendors for sourcing
- Highly detailed and organized
- Exceptional passion for design and craft
- Eager to learn and work in a fast-paced, fun and collaborative environment
- Inherent ability to practice honesty and transparency in all that you do, including admitting mistakes, solving problems, and creating solutions
