East Coast
John Derian opened a 500-square-foot shop in the West Village inspired by Astier de Villatte in Paris and his home in Provincetown, Massachusetts. The shop offers his signature decoupage, Astier de Villatte ceramics, and other imported goods. (18 Christopher St., New York)
At spring High Point Market, Century debuted a new 40,000-square-foot showroom at 200 Steele—the first move for the brand in 30 years. It joins its sister companies Hancock & Moore and Highland House at the new location, where it is showcasing furniture in an open floor plan with a kitchen and source room. Italian outdoor furniture company Unopiù opened its first showroom stateside, in West Palm Beach’s growing CityPlace district. The company chose South Florida for its first U.S. location because of the region’s emphasis on outdoor residential living and the intersection of indoor and outdoor style. (700 S. Brands are making moves at the D&D Building. French interior designer Sarah Lavoine opened her first showroom in New York, Maison Sarah Lavoine, in partnership with French paint brand Ressource, while Made Goods (Suite 325) has tripled the footprint of its showroom in a new space. Rebecca Atwood is opening her first-ever retail space, which will carry the textile designer’s full line of fabrics, wallpapers, pillows and bedding, as well as ceramics by Andrew Molleur and glassware by The Shelter Collection. The NoLIta showroom is outfitted with products from other New York–based designers, including a light fixture from Rosie Li Studio and a table from Fort Standard. (175A Mott St., New York)
West Coast
Seattle-based interior designer Brian Paquette expanded his contemporary furniture and decorative accessories shop, Brian Paquette at Home. The space takes up 1,200 square feet and is divided between the new shop and offices. Highlights from the product offerings include Paquette’s new tabletop line with Seattle ceramicist Natasha Alphonse and furniture from Mirena Kim, Eso Etso, Louise Roe, Fort Standard and more. Kravet, Lee Jofa and Brunschwig & Fils will be available at Kravet’s renovated multi-brand showroom at the San Francisco Design Center. Each brand has a dedicated area, along with offerings from Kravet Carpet and The Shade Store at Kravet. (101 Henry Adams St., Suite 120, San Francisco)
Studio Van den Akker opened its first California showroom, at the Pacific Design Center, where it presents a unique collection of furniture and lighting that highlights the brand’s own lines, as well as collections from Egg Collective, Pipim, Melissa A. Cromwell, Trella, and Pamela Sunday. (8687 Melrose Ave., Suite B355, West Hollywood)
Boutique custom rug company Lindström Rugs opened a new 6,000-square-foot gallery-like showroom in Los Angeles. Founder Erik Lindström designed the space, which is larger than their previous location in Venice, and it carries the brand’s collection as well as a selection of vintage furniture and lighting. It will also host art openings, wellness events and guest lectures. (3717 W. Jefferson Blvd., Los Angeles)
Midwest
Scandinavian Spaces collaborated with Ghislaine Viñas on the design of its new showroom at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago. Set to debut at NeoCon in June, it will highlight Nordic design with innovative and colorful modern furniture (Suite 1192). Also making moves at theMart is outdoor furniture company Gloster, which upgraded to a new, modern studio (Suite 1452), and Noure’s Oriental Rugs, which has almost doubled its showroom space to show more product offerings (Suite 6-155).
