Homesense expands, to customers’ delight

Homesense is expanding—again. The higher-end sister company of HomeGoods, owned by The TJX Companies, opened its first location in the U.S. last summer in Framingham, Massachusetts. Now, it has announced plans to open an additional 400 stores throughout the country. It already runs 49 outposts in Europe and 109 in Canada.

Unfortunately, the new locations haven’t been named yet. Currently, there are stores in Framingham and Westwood, Massachusetts, and East Hanover and Ocean, New Jersey. The brand announced the expansion on an earnings call last week, as Home Textiles Today first reported, noting that CEO Ernie Hermann said that the reaction to the first four U.S. stores has been “terrific” and that in 2018 the company will open an additional 15 Homesense stores and an additional HomeGoods locations.

Homesense is known for its showroom-inspired layout and selection of upholstery, sofas, futons, day beds, leather furniture, accent decor and more. Its American spaces are outfitted with a “general store” category, with items like doorstops, tool kits and storage lockers.

John Ricciuti, president of HomeGoods and Homesense in the U.S., had said of the expansion last year, “As the U.S. home market continues to grow, we are excited to bring consumers an expanded selection of quality merchandise at incredible prices, along with a new shopping experience in which they can discover and curate the home of their dreams.”
