A pair of contemporary-style homes along Atlanta BeltLine’s Eastside Trail and Historic Fourth Ward Park have become canvases for several of the city’s top design talents. Coinciding with the Atlanta Design Festival, ADAC and Atlanta Magazine’s HOME present the Modern Style showhouses, on view now until June 24.
Regional design firms Mark Williams Design Associates, Michel Smith Boyd, J. Wheeler Designs, J. Witzel Interior Design, Mister + Mrs. Sharp, Kate Hayes Design, Colordrunk Designs, Trademark Design Co., AJW Designs, Beth Kooby Design, Kate Hayes Design, Julie Dewald and Sandra Pawliger for Room & Board, landscape designer Brendan Butler, and florist Zeb Grant have shared their modern perspectives inside the homes. Here’s a look at a few of the finishing touches.
If pop art were to come to life, it’d look something like Michel Smith Boyd’s showhouse bedroom. What the Atlanta-based designer claims began as a “subtle monochromatic situation” quickly turned into a colorfully layered affair thanks to a mustard velvet chair from Switch Modern, a geometric print from Jim Thompson and a contemporary canvas from local gallery Pryor Fine Art.
Artworks by illustrator NG Collective and Los Angeles painter America Martin decorate the modern interiors by Mark Williams Design Associates. Designer Niki Papadopoulos sourced the likes of Brooklyn furniture maker Hellman-Chang and local firm C. Watkins Garden Co. to create a comfortably modern space.
There’s no shortage of light in husband-and-wife design duo Meghan and Patrick Sharp’s showhouse space. Neutral furnishings from Design Within Reach and sculptural sconces from R Hughes keep the room airy, yet full of depth.
The Modern Spaces showhouses are located at 715 Ralph McGill Boulevard and 402 Ashley Avenue, in Atlanta’s Old Fourth Ward. The homes will be open for tours Thursday through Sunday until June 24.
