The Designer supports the design team and Principal in a collaborative studio environment, contributing to a project from conception
to completion. This role facilitates the creative and technical direction of the design process while managing the budgetary and
operational execution of the interior design package, including construction documentation, FF&E development, procurement, and
installation oversight.
Core responsibilities include:
• Involvement in all phases of the design process, including Pre-Design, Concept Design, Schematic Design, Design Development,
Construction Documentation, Construction Administration, FF&E, Procurement, and Installation.
• Conduct or implement site surveys and prepare base drawings utilizing Emblem’s drawing standards.
• Contribute to ideation of a project’s theme, character, design vocabulary, and mood.
• Research creative resources, ideas, historical precedent, materials, furnishings, and finishes to ensure that the most innovative
solutions are implemented.
• Develop technical drawings, including floor plans, electrical plans, RCPs, finish elevations, and millwork drawings to illustrate
design intent and material usage.
• Develop design and FF&E presentations for both internal and external review.
• Contribute to documentation of finalized floor plans, enlarged plans, finish plans, RCPs, elevations, finish schedules, and
specifications for plumbing, finishes, lighting, hardware, and appliances.
• Support the bidding process with General Contractors.
• Develop furniture layouts and FF&E selections, including specifications of products and materials.
• Develop concepts and technical drawings for custom furniture.
• Assist with development of FF&E budgets.
• Oversee FF&E procurement, including requesting vendor quotes, developing and reviewing client proposals, issuing purchase
orders, and facilitating expediting as needed.
Hybrid role: three days in office, two remote weekly.
• 5+ years of professional experience at a residential design firm with a focus on high-end residential interiors.
• Degree in interior design, architecture, or related field from an accredited school.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Studio Designer, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite. Experience with SketchUp, Rhino, or
Enscape a plus.
• Strong knowledge of furnishings, finishes, materials, and design detailing.
• Experience with FF&E procurement processes and budget management.
• Capacity to work in a fast-paced team environment and to handle multiple projects concurrently.
• Ability to effectively balance working independently and collaborating with the team.
• Ability to think critically with a proactive approach to problem solving.
• Exceptional communication skills with proactive follow-through.
• Highly organized and deadline-oriented with attention to detail.
• Outstanding graphic presentation skills.
