It was a whirlwind week in North Carolina. Tens of thousands of interiors aficionados—including yours truly—congregated in High Point on a mission to unearth the latest and greatest designs. From necklace-inspired sconces to trompe l’oeil sensory rugs, here are some of the most unforgettable launches at Fall Market.
Hickory Chair’s collaboration with Liberty Fabrics on an exclusive textiles offering perked us up faster than our morning cup of Café Bustelo. The collection offers more than 20 fanciful pieces across 11 patterns, including the curvy, rose- and tulip-covered Ariele sofa; the zigzagging Boyd ottoman; the art nouveau Louis XVI dining side chair; and the Queen Dorothy chair, a swiveling beauty with tapestry-esque velvet upholstery and a playfully scalloped skirt.
Thibaut’s latest debuts left us begging for samples. The first collection, Yutori, features an array of wabi-sabi styles, such as the kintsugi-esque Cloud Mosaic and the metal leaf–inlaid Deco Moon; while Texture Resource 9 offers more than a hundred new performance wallcoverings, including the grasscloth-like vinyl Taluk Sisal and the pearlescent Katamari Bud.
After four jam-packed days of appointments, we ended Fall Market on a high note inside Taylor King’s vibrant showroom. Daydream-inducing debuts included everything from the statement-making, floral-upholstered Abbott king bed and the flame-stitched, Missoni-inspired Moncler dining chairs to a wavy-lined, bright yellow banquette outfitted in graphic chenille appliqués.
A trio of new designer collabs brightened up the Hudson Valley Lighting Group showroom. Along with Augusta Hoffman’s vintage-driven collection—which features standouts such as the whipstitched Louise pendant and the paper-shaded Brice table lamp—newcomers include Lauren Liess’s down-to-earth line for Troy Lighting and Moniomi’s fashion-forward fixtures for Corbett Lighting, complete with an antique necklace–inspired wall light bedecked in pearl-like matte glass globes and delicate brass chains.
The Four Hands showroom was a wonderland of dexterously crafted on-trend designs. Not only did Amber Lewis unleash more than 80 new pieces into her wildly popular line—including the dark brown mappa burl–paneled Malko dining table and the daybed-style Nellan accent bench—the Austin-based brand also unveiled hundreds of in-house looks, such as the hand-distressed Alcott cabinet and the bone-inlaid Timil floor mirror.
The designs of the 1970s are having a moment, and Vanguard Furniture understood the assignment. Highlights from the North Carolina–based brand’s deep mineral-toned showroom included the earthy, avocado-hued Rene sofa; the tiger-striped Mira swivel chair; the chunky Pierson Make It Yours storage cabinet; and the voluptuous, space age–esque Evolution swivel chair.
Outside the International Home Furnishings Center, the Sunbrella Interiors pop-up supplied us with more than just sunshine. The buzzy brand’s curated selection of high-performing, indoor-minded fabric and window treatment offerings featured a lush new line of buttery soft plaid throw blankets and a preview of an upcoming collab with Sien + Co set to debut at the Interwoven fair next month.
At 200 Steele, Highland House rolled out an assortment of lusciously lacquered designs. Available in five glossy jewel-toned colorways—olive green Moss, steel blue Harbour, deep teal Baltic, burgundy Crimson and creamy Ivory—eye-catchers include the petite Olsen accent table; the three-tiered Hallings side table; and Aster, a two-drawer nightstand with a clean-lined cutout for added storage space.
313.Space was brimming with of-the-moment eye candy. After we got lost in the sea of hand-sculpted ceramic offerings at Schwung, we marveled at Jess Weeth’s classic-meets–coastal cool cabinetry for Unique Kitchens & Baths and basked in the rainbow of colorful GP&J Baker shades at Pooky Lighting.
Corey Damen Jenkins’s latest styles for Maitland-Smith were a lesson in sophisticated whimsy. Though we first fell in love with the polished brass finials and woven rattan headboard that define the Winchester bed, it was the two-tiered silhouette and sweetly scalloped edges of the Erika nightstand that ultimately made us late to our next appointment.
Jaipur Living’s collab with Bradley Odom was every bit as inspired as we’d imagined. Newcomers from the thoughtfully designed, handwoven series include the whimsical, avian-themed Avis rug and the ultraplush Solum line, which features four pure wool mixed-pile designs with minimalist geometric motifs.
Dwayne Bergmann added 25 dazzling new designs into his ongoing collaboration with Abner Henry. Head-turners include the cerused white-and-blue Roma console, which features four gently curved door fronts and hand-dimpled metal legs; the dynamic maple wood Mdina dining table; and the striking yet storage-savvy Ayr nightstand.
Lillian August’s Antiquaire collection is proof that the divine is in the details. A love letter to European antiques, the line spans 27 handmade case goods crafted using traditional techniques. Among the standouts were the meticulously distressed Stefon secretary, the wondrously weathered Iris Serpentine chest, the bobbin-legged Cassat occasional chair, and the eglomise-inset Verity serving tray.
At IHFC, Momeni’s latest rug launches instantly captured our imaginations. Day-brighteners included the sweetly scalloped Lily collection of pastel ginghams; the striped, flat-weave Jango line; the all-jute Maritime; and Playground, a series crafted with special attention to children with sensory issues, featuring delightful trompe l’oeil-esque designs adorned in fantastical flora-and-fauna-filled scenes.
Recycled glass reigned supreme at Currey & Company with its new chandelier designs: The dazzling Selavy is a circular stunner clad in feather-shaped pieces forged from upcycled wine bottles; the elegantly arched Flannery showcases salvaged green bobeche shades; and Herbary is a bold botanical number draped in tinted leaves.
After a long day of walking, we finally kicked up our feet courtesy of the new Kravet Motion furniture line. The sleek series includes chairs, sofas and sectionals with seamlessly integrated reclining mechanisms, upholstered in your choice of thousands of the brand’s sumptuous fabrics—including its bestselling performance velvets—and three exposed wood frames with metal accents in Brushed Bronze, Antique Brass or Polished Nickel.
Brigette Romanek’s latest designs for Loloi were on full display at the IHFC. The launch offered three fresh collections of artisan-made floorcoverings, ranging from the expressive, raised wool–pile Madi; the all-natural Monterrey with its twisted soumak weave; and Romi, an attention-commanding line of hand-tufted area rugs bordered by a pair of antique dragons.
The new NKBA showroom at Broad Hall was the talk of the town. Memorable looks from the 15-vendor space included Cosentino’s soon-to-be launched, state-of-the-art Éclos line of zero-crystalline-silica surfaces; Urban Bonfire’s insanely chic outdoor kitchens; BlueStar’s gorgeous emerald green appliances; and Miele’s CVA 7840 built-in coffee machine in Clean Touch Steel, which supplied us with both design inspo and the perfect double shot of espresso.
