How a small-batch textile brand rose to A-list status while staying true to its roots

With Sien + Co, Alex Gibson pairs small-batch handwoven textiles with luxury performance fabrics for a fashionable roster of clients.

Alex Gibson likes textiles that tell a story. That preference has informed her approach to production: Many of her fabrics are handloomed and naturally dyed by South American artisans; her latest line of handwoven silk is produced in India and then dyed with flower pigments sourced from her own farm. “I have a deep reverence for craftsmanship and traditional techniques,” says the Durango, Colorado–based founder of Sien + Co. “It’s a slow process, but it gives each piece so much character.”
