It’s been a whirlwind week for design aficionados. The NYCxDesign Festival is officially a wrap, and there’s a slew of fresh collections to mull over. From kaleidoscopic three-dimensional wall tiles to contemporary Louis XIV–style dining chairs, here are some standouts from the latest round of releases.
Designer Zoë Feldman partnered with District Loom on a gorgeous curation of one-of-a-kind rugs. Brimming with warm hues and eye-catching vintage motifs, the heirloom-worthy assortment offers more than 20 designs, including an ivory and cognac Turkish tulu rug (No. 12) and our personal favorite, a lavender and marigold antique Karabakh runner (No. 20).
Visual Comfort unveiled a super sleek lighting collaboration with Houston-based designer Paloma Contreras. The elegant assortment features 10 sculptural designs that span chandeliers, sconces, and table and floor lamps, including the triangular Orsay series and French Moderne–style Comtesse line.
Milanese fashion and design brand La DoubleJ teamed up with 1stDibs for a characterful collection of 1960s-inspired furniture and homeware. Spanning serveware, linens and upholstered furnishings, the collaboration offers everything from dessert plates to throw pillows and benches in bright, punchy patterns, including our current crush, Cubi, a print sourced from the archives of the historical haute couture textile supplier Seterie Cugnasca.
At WantedDesign Manhattan, Boston-based surface design studio Tomma Bloom debuted an artful 1920s-inspired collection called Sonia & René. Drawing from the avant-garde works of artists Sonia Delaunay and René Lalique, the kaleidoscopic assortment features textiles, wallpaper and three-dimensional wall tiles in bold colors and geometric designs that pay homage to the art deco movement, including the grid-style Dot and a trippy graphic pattern called Rhythm.
Creative wallcoverings company Chasing Paper tapped New York–based artist Shadé Akanbi for a globally inspired collaboration. Influenced by the designer’s Nigerian-American upbringing and extensive international travels, the collection boasts five vibrant wallpaper designs, including a colorfully banded style called Cleo Stripe Vertical and a bold botanical print named Warri Palms, which are all available in both traditional and peel-and-stick options.
Burlington, North Carolina–based ceramics brand Haand called on chef and restaurateur Vivian Howard for a colorful collection of tableware pieces. The expansive assortment includes five curated sets of serveware, ranging from breakfast mugs to dinner party essentials, each available in a custom-created Buttermilk Pink finish or a mix of earth-tone glazes.
Sien + Co debuted a sumptuous new collection called San Miguel de Allende, inspired by the architecture of the Mexican City. Handwoven from plush highland sheep wool, the luxe line of pillows offers an assortment of simple striped designs in an array of rich, earthy colorways, including the stipple-style Punto and wavy-lined Barro.
Brooklyn-based design company Roll & Hill unveiled an ultra chic furniture collaboration with Jenna Lyons. True to the fashion designer’s signature high-low style, the streamlined assortment features eight simple antique-inspired pieces composed of sustainable materials, including a Louis XIV–style dining chair with leather upholstery options, plus a brass and black walnut side table with a built-in champagne bucket.
In honor of the NYCxDesign Festival, New York–based design studio Meyer Davis debuted two new collaborations with Calico Wallpaper inside Stellar Works’ Tribeca showroom. Ephemera features a collage of oversized, abstract forms in earth-toned colorways, while Wilds offers an impressionistic take on traditional floral wallcoverings.
Vipp celebrated the opening of its new Manhattan-based showroom by launching a colorful capsule collection called Studio Green. The limited-edition selection features the Danish brand’s legendary pedal bin and a coordinating leather swivel chair in a dreamy new deep green colorway.
