Velinda Hellen Design, a Los Angeles based design team, is seeking a freelance junior designer — with a focus on drafting and procurement — to join our growing team this summer. This is a part-time freelance position ranging from 10 to 30 hours per week, requiring the willingness to divide those hours across the full week. Full time hours would be expected during deadlines. This role has the potential to grow into a full-time position for the right candidate. The position is primarily remote, with expectations for site visits and occasional in-person team meetings in the Los Angeles area.
We are looking for a self-motivated, detail-oriented designer and drafter with procurement experience who thrives in a remote work environment and understands the communication discipline and accountability that comes with it. The right candidate is proactive, responsive, and confident working independently while staying closely connected to the team through regular check-ins.

About our Company

We don't do safe. We do soulful.

VHD Interiors is a full-service interior design studio led by founder Velinda Hellen — a creative director, client champion, and unapologetic believer that every room should tell a story. Based in Southern California with projects stretching to Northern California, Aspen, and beyond, we work at the intersection of eclecticism, livability, and fearless design.

Our philosophy is simple: spaces should feel collected, not decorated. Layered, not matched. Deeply personal, never trendy. We pull from each client's unique essence — their art, their history, their taste — and shape it into something that actually feels like 'them'.

What we do:
- Full-Service Residential & boutique commercial Design — major renovations, multi-room projects, and the kind of high-touch guidance that turns overwhelming into extraordinary
- Virtual Design — accessible, rendered, and actionable, for clients across the U.S., Canada, and Europe
- Styling — the finishing layer: art, vintage, texture, the details that make a room feel alive

Our work has been featured in major publications, with testimonials from clients from all over the world & at all budget levels. Projects range from intimate single-room transformations to multi-million-dollar estate renovations.

The team:
We're a tight-knit studio — three core employees and a few trusted freelancers — which means every project gets real attention, not a handoff. Our collaborators include photographers, stylists, local artists, and a network of trade-only vendors that most clients can't access on their own. We run lean, move fast, and never compromise on craft.

We use SketchUp, Houzz Pro, Dubsado, and Google Workspace to keep projects organized and clients in the loop. Communication is clear, timelines are set with intention, and our contracts make sure everyone starts on the same page.
