Tyler Banken Design is seeking a talented Landscape Design Associate to support a growing portfolio of high-end residential projects. This is an hourly freelance position with flexible scheduling and the opportunity to work either remotely or from our Midtown East Manhattan office.
Our work includes New York City townhouse gardens, rooftop terraces, Hamptons properties, Palm Beach estates, and residences throughout the United States. We are looking for someone who is highly organized, design-minded, technically proficient, and excited to contribute to all phases of the design process.
Responsibilities include:
• Drafting landscape projects in AutoCAD
• Developing plans, elevations, and construction details for drawing sets
• Creating presentation materials for client meetings
• Researching, sourcing, and specifying landscape materials and products
• Developing site-appropriate plant palettes and plant schedules
• Preparing spreadsheets, schedules, and supporting project documentation
• Monitoring project progress and assisting with coordination throughout design and construction
• Communicating proactively with vendors, consultants, and project team members
• Supporting multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining deadlines and quality standards
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated designer looking to gain hands-on experience with sophisticated residential projects and work closely with the principal of a growing landscape design studio.
Qualifications:
• 1–3 years of experience in a landscape design, architecture, or interior design studio environment
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) or similar presentation software
• Working knowledge of plant materials suitable for New York and the surrounding region preferred
• Ability to prepare plans, elevations, details, and presentation materials with a high level of accuracy
• Strong organizational and project management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities
• Positive attitude and willingness to collaborate with clients, consultants, vendors, and project teams
