Robert Stilin is an AD100/Elle Décor A-List interior design firm that is currently seeking a dynamic, talented, and hard-working Intermediate Designer who can provide crucial support across our projects. The ideal candidate will be an extremely self-motivated and detail-oriented individual who can fulfill both design-related + project management duties with technical prowess + creative skill alike. The intermediate designer will work in close coordination with the Studio Director + Principal.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conducting image research for new projects and preparing mood decks
- Drafting furniture plans, elevations, renderings, and custom furniture drawings
- Specifying architectural materials such as flooring, stone, tile, hardware, and other finishes
- Sourcing furniture, lighting, rugs, fabric, wallpaper, decorative accessories, and artwork
- Liaising with contractors, building professionals, landscape architects, and other tradespeople
- Preparing materials for client meetings and attending site visits
- Generating proposals, issuing payment requests, and overseeing purchasing/procurement
- Coordinating shipping, delivery, and storage of client property
- Overseeing installations and handling all post-installation maintenance work
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field
- 4-6 years of relevant professional work experience
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and Studio Designer (or a comparable software)
- Strong presentation skills; excellent verbal + written communication
- Strong familiarity with fabric, textile, and rug vendors a plus
- Excellent client + vendor relations

Robert Stilin (b. 1965, Wisconsin) is the founder and managing member of Robert Stilin LLC. His celebrated career as a designer of elegant homes and furniture is intrinsically linked to his passion and expertise as a collector and dealer. Stilin, who holds an impressive personal collection of art and vintage furnishings, has garnered a reputation for crafting stylish, thoughtful spaces that effortlessly blend old and new. His natural ability to create beautiful, art-filled homes has often drawn him to work with prominent collectors. Stilin’s entrepreneurial beginnings in Palm Beach have led to a distinguished career that covers a wide range of project types. From a penthouse on Fifth Avenue to a family compound in Louisville, Stilin creates warm, comfortable spaces that are engaging and always functional. After a highly regarded period in the Hamptons, where his earthy, country style became synonymous with the seaside community, Stilin’s firm migrated to New York where he is currently based.
Each year since 2010, Robert has been recognized on Elle Décor’s Top 25 A-List Designer list. He was also named to Architectural Digest's Top 100 designers in 2016, 2018, and each year subsequently. Continually active in the art world, Robert currently serves on the Artists Council at the Whitney Museum of American Art and on the Leadership Council of Dia Art Foundation.
In October 2019, Robert released his first monograph, Robert Stilin Interiors, published by Vendome Press and edited by Mayer Rus with photography by Stephen Kent Johnson. His second monograph with Vendome Press is set for release in Fall of 2025.
