Job Description

Workstead is seeking a Project Designer to join its Brooklyn studio. This role is suited to a thoughtful and highly motivated designer with a strong conceptual foundation and the ability to carry projects through all phases—from early conceptual design through construction. Working closely with senior leadership, this individual will play an integral role in shaping projects while maintaining a high level of organization, precision, and design integrity throughout. In particular, we are seeking someone with experience on high end residential projects and with FF&E selection and development.

Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the design and development of projects across all phases, from concept through construction
- Develop presentations, mood boards, and visual materials that communicate design intent clearly and effectively
- Advance design concepts through modeling, rendering, drawing, and material exploration
- Produce and coordinate technical documentation, including drawing sets, FF&E specifications, and material schedules
- Participate in construction administration, including RFIs, submittals, site visits, and punch lists
- Coordinate with consultants, vendors, and fabricators throughout the project lifecycle
- Present work internally and externally with clarity and confidence
- Support project leadership in maintaining scope, schedule, and budget alignment
- Mentor and guide junior team members as needed

Job Requirements

Skills and Attributes for Success:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or Interior Design
- 6+ years of professional experience, ideally within high-end residential design
- Strong design sensibility with a demonstrated ability to contribute to concept development and execution
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and spec-writing/procurement tools
- Experience producing construction documents and coordinating across project teams
- Knowledge of materials, high-end FF&E, and specifications, with an eye for detail and craftsmanship
- Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
- Knowledge of space planning, clearances, code requirements, and other technical best practices
- Facility developing projects through both 3D and 2D representations
- Excellent teamwork skills and an ability to work collaboratively with all members of the team

Salary:
- $90,000 - $120,000 annually
