Showroom Spotlight
Pure Salt, the Newport Beach, California–based interior design firm and lifestyle brand founded by Leigh Lincoln and Aly Morford, is celebrating its 10-year anniversary with a new flagship store and studio in its hometown. “We always wanted our customers and clients to be able to see, touch and walk into a space and really feel the Pure Salt aesthetic and the way that we design,” says Lincoln. “Our space prior to this was great, but Aly and I always dreamed about finding something that looked and felt like a home. When we found this property in Old Newport, it couldn’t have been more perfect.”
The 4,500-square-foot space is divided into four distinct areas—a windowed wall separates a living room and bedroom vignette; a dining room and kitchen setup appear elsewhere on the floor—each featuring a different plaster finish. “People say Venetian plaster and think there’s just one type, but there are many types and things to consider when you’re choosing a finish like that,” she says. “We have the traditional, old-school, thick, beautiful finish in the front one, all the way down to, like, the fourth one has a limewash—so that we can show our clients the differences.”
The space boasts a shoppable array of furniture, wallpaper, rugs, artwork and accessories, but is also dotted with QR codes for guests to scan and learn more information about items that may not be in-store. “Anything that people see in our designs or in our shop, we’ve tried to represent in the space,” she says. “It’s just such a great visual representation of our vibe and the things that we love. The lighting throughout this space, both the natural and our fixtures, are just really inspiring.”
The founders hope the flagship will be the embodiment of the company’s decade-long evolution. “When we started building the brand, it was important for it to be about our Southern California roots and bringing the outdoors inside,” says Lincoln. “What we’re really trying to work on now is finding even more unique things that you can’t find anywhere else that represent that. We now have this beautiful space that can house these pieces, so that people can see them and trust them, and then continue to design with them and put them in homes.”
Having the new showroom under the same roof as the brand’s studio is a plus for the design team as well. “Allowing our team to work in a space that truly feels like us has been a really awesome aspect of it,” adds Lincoln. “It’s just got such a cool vibe and energy.” 314 Old Newport Blvd., Newport Beach, California
