A new exhibit at Dessin Fournir Gallery in Los Angeles, on view now through June 9, features 55 original Jeremiah Goodman gouache paintings depicting interiors, including those in the homes of photographer Bruce Weber, fashion designer James Galanos, actress Mary Martin, Nancy Reagan and the Duchess of Windsor. Goodman, 94, is renowned for painting portraits of rooms of the rich and famous, among them legendary interior designer Rose Cumming. The retrospective covers his 70-year career.

“I wanted them to be almost a fantasy of what people thought they’d be like,” Goodman told The New York Times of his work. “None of us walk out the door wanting to face catastrophe. We want to face the rainbow.”

Dessin Fournir Gallery is located in the La Cienega Design Quarter, at 716 N. La Cienega Blvd, West Hollywood.
