In the BOH series What I Love, we’re asking designers to build us a mood board of what’s inspiring them right now.
Jennifer Greer Hartmann crafts modern spaces with old-world appeal. Having just returned from sourcing trips in Paris and London, the founder of Austin-based Greer Interior Design is especially inspired by pieces with patina and history. “As I was wandering through showrooms and antique shops, I was reminded of how important it is to blend the modern amenities in our homes with beautiful vintage things,” she tells Business of Home.
Grounded in natural finishes and deep mineral tones, her current flat lay showcases an array of heirloom pieces balanced with a selection of contemporary styles. “The rich colors, textural fabrics, and mix of traditional and modern forms feel collected over time rather than overly styled, especially when paired with vintage objects,” says Hartmann.
Classic details, such as a circa–18th century bookcase, infuse the mood board with time-honored elegance, while graphic motifs, including a boldly banded rug and floral upholstery, invigorate the scheme. “Contrast creates character,” she explains.
Here, the designer breaks it all down, from a blackened pewter sconce to a handmade paper plant.

3. GOLDEN CURRENT FRAMED PAINTING BY TATIANA DUPERAULT FROM LEFT BEHIND MARKET AT CHAIRISH
“I am always sourcing [original] paintings wherever I go, as I love the layer it adds to any space. Bonus points if I can find it already in a beautiful frame!”
4. LILA CEILING LIGHT IN ANNE’S GARDEN BY PORTA ROMANA
“I recently saw this chandelier while visiting Porta Romana’s showroom in London and cannot wait to use it. It feels organic and feminine and has the most beautiful finish. It even has a small frog perching on one of the leaves—how cute!”
5. NAPKINS JOLI BOIS BY ANTOINETTE POISSON
“I just purchased this set of napkins for my table. I love this print so much and how it works in either a casual or elegant setting.”

8. FOX FABRIC IN DUSK BY DE LE CUONA
“I have used de Le Cuona’s textiles for years—no one does color quite like they do. This is one of my favorite upholstery fabrics. It is chic while still feeling somewhat casual, and it is the perfect shade of plum.”
9. AGNES SCONCE WITH BLACKENED PEWTER AND HEIRLOOM FINISHES BY THE URBAN ELECTRIC CO.
“My go-to for lighting will always be Urban Electric. Their pieces are just so timeless. The heirloom finish is the perfect in-between [for] polished nickel and brass and is just so stunning. I am excited every time I get to use it.”
10. GERANIUM PLANT WITH SALMON BLOOM AND WHITE LEAF BY THE GREEN VASE
“Though I always encourage clients to have real plants and florals in the house, it is nice to tuck in something that is pretty year-round, especially in a darker room or a second home. The Green Vase makes the most beautiful hand-sculpted flowers.”
11. VINTAGE SOLID BRASS CAT BOOKENDS FROM 200MAIN VINTAGE AT CHAIRISH
“I am always drawn to an animal motif on a bookshelf. In vintage brass, it’s a touch of whimsy that brings together the blend of old and new.”
12. FORSTER SOFA IN PECAN MOHAIR BY LAWSON-FENNING
“I have used this sofa in many of my projects. It is perfectly proportioned, stylish, and insanely comfortable—an easy sell to clients.”
13. SPACE DYED STRIPE FLATWEAVE RUG IN SADDLE & TERRA COTTA BY ELIZABETH EAKINS
“This striped rug adds the perfect layer to any space. Homes in Austin are so casual, so we love how these rugs fit that aesthetic while still feeling tailored.”
14. BERGAMOTTO DI CALABRIA CANDLE BY CERERIA MOLLÁ 1899
“I love this scent. It makes the whole house smell amazing.”
