Paul Montgomery/The Mural Source
Redon

During a visit to the Musée d’Orsay in Paris, the designers at Paul Montgomery fell in love with the fabulous decorative panels painted by Odilon Redon for the dining room of the Château de Domecy-sur-le-Vault in Burgundy, France. These panels were among the artist’s most radical compositions, marking a transition from ornamental to abstract painting. Rather than depicting a specific place, Redon created an imagined landscape where trees, leafy branches and budding flowers emerge against an endless horizon. Inspired by the panels’ dream-like quality, distinctive palette and Japanese influence, Redon evokes the spirit of the original works through floating flora, abstract trees and organic forms that seem to suspend reality. Discover the design at the link above.
