Job Description

Bishop Studio is seeking a seasoned Business Manager to join our growing Chicago-based team. This managerial role is accountable for overseeing our firm's accounting, operation and human resource needs. It is hands-on position and an ideal opportunity for those who work well in a collaborative, creative environment.

About the Position:
The financial and accounting responsibilities of the Business Manager role include management reporting, preparation of financial statements with general ledger reconciliation, and project and cost accounting (budgeting/planning, invoicing, cash management, banking with computer accounting systems). The Business Manager will assist the principal in a proactive way to analyze the overall financial and administrative health of the company and work to bring efficiency to all systems. This role is responsible for looking at new and more efficient ways of managing the office and to make recommendations for change.

The human resource obligations of this role include hiring and firing policies, payroll, and maintaining and tracking benefits and all insurances.

The Business Manager will also be responsible for the day-to-day operations of our office, including all bookkeeping aspects (both business and personal) and office management. He/She/They will report directly to the Principal and work with the Senior staff to manage employees and projects. The Business Manager will also work closely with the company’s CPA, attorneys, business consultants and IT company as required.

Qualifications:
• Interior Design firm experience is preferred
• Minimum 3-5 years’ experience managing all aspects of an office as mentioned above
• Proficient in Microsoft, Studio Designer (Webware) and Adobe programs preferred
• Excellent (and articulate) communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills
• Valid US Driver’s License required

Job Requirements

•. A/P and A/R (including all product, services, reimbursable expenses, petty cash and time billing functions)
• Banking and Credit Card Data Entry (including team member credit cards and Principal accounts, employee reimbursements)
• Routine evaluation of business operating expenses ensuring maintaining comparable and most cost-effective business products
• Monthly Sales Tax (multi-state)
• Quarterly/Annual Income Tax Management-responsible for all data entry (including journal entries), reporting to accountant accordingly for quarterly/annual estimates and filings, finalization of annual financials, entry of general ledger adjustments, review and verification of draft tax returns
• Third party vendor liaison and management, including but not limited to: various insurance policies; IT company; lease, building and repair management; payroll and 401k system; accounting and outside business consultants and professionals; etc.
• Reporting: Work-in-Progress, cashflow, profitability and collection, budgets and forecasts; coordinates closely with the Principal on bi-weekly planning, budgeting, and financial milestones
• Contract and RFP submittal and review and processing new projects and rates
• Client and/or vendor project conflict resolution
• Human Resources: Employee onboarding and training, payroll administration, benefit management (medical/dental, worker’s compensation, 401k, FSA accounts, cell phone reimbursement), PTO management, unemployment relations, and employee reviews (staying current on all HR related revisions to applicable state and local laws)
• Maintenance, distribution and compliance management of company handbook
• Assistance with talent acquisition and interview process
• Assistance with Marketing, Inventory and other Company functions as required
• General oversight over all office processes’ and employees
