Cara Woodhouse Interiors is seeking a highly talented Senior Interior Designer to join our studio located on the North Shore of Long Island, New York. This role is ideal for a designer with a strong creative voice, refined design instincts, and the ability to translate bold ideas into beautifully executed interiors. The Senior Interior Designer will play a key role in developing and executing high end residential projects from concept through installation. Working closely with Cara Woodhouse, this designer will help shape the creative direction of projects while ensuring the studio’s distinctive aesthetic and attention to detail are carried through every phase of the design process.

Responsibilities include developing design concepts, preparing furniture layouts, selecting finishes and materials, sourcing furniture, lighting, and textiles, and preparing thoughtful presentations for clients. The role also involves coordinating with architects, contractors, vendors, and fabricators to bring custom pieces and architectural elements to life.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, visually sophisticated, and confident managing multiple projects at once. This role requires someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, communicates clearly, and brings both creative vision and practical problem solving to each project.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field. Minimum of 5 to 7 years of professional interior design experience, with a strong focus on luxury residential projects. Demonstrated experience managing projects from concept through installation, including design development, documentation, procurement, and site coordination. Advanced knowledge of furniture layouts, spatial planning, materials, finishes, lighting, and custom millwork detailing. Strong ability to develop cohesive design schemes and present ideas clearly and confidently to clients and team members. Proficiency in industry standard design software including AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and presentation tools. Experience working in Studio Designer for project management, proposals, purchasing, and tracking orders. Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and coordination with architects, contractors, and fabricators. Experience sourcing furniture, lighting, textiles, and custom pieces through trade vendors and showrooms. Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, consultants, vendors, and internal team members. Experience mentoring and guiding junior designers through project development and execution. Highly detail oriented with strong problem solving skills and the ability to maintain design integrity throughout all phases of a project. Professional demeanor and confidence working with high end residential clients. A strong portfolio demonstrating sophisticated residential interiors and thoughtful detailing. Ability to work from the Cara Woodhouse Interiors studio located on the North Shore of Long Island, New York.
