We are seeking a thoughtful, detail-oriented Design Assistant to join our growing studio. Reporting to the Interior Designers and Principal, the Design Assistant will play a key role in supporting projects from concept through installation. This is an excellent opportunity for a creative, organized professional who thrives in a fast-paced studio environment and is eager to grow within an established firm.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support Interior Designers and Principals across all phases of residential projects, from initial concept development through installation and styling.
• Assist in researching and sourcing furniture, lighting, textiles, antiques, and decorative accessories to align with project direction and budget.
• Assist in preparing presentation materials, design boards, floor plans, elevations, and spec sheets.
• Assist in maintaining and updating project documentation, including but not limited to: operations project trackers, schedules, and tear sheets.
• Coordinate with vendors, showrooms, workrooms, and tradespeople to obtain samples, lead times, and shipping information.
• Assist with sample library organization, including ordering, cataloging, and maintaining materials, fabrics, and finishes, in coordination with our Library Manager.
• Track progress updates from workrooms; communicate proactively with the team on status updates.
• Attend client meetings, site visits, and installations as needed, taking detailed notes and following up on action items.
• Provide general studio support to ensure projects run smoothly and on schedule.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in interior design or architecture required; MFA in Interior Design or related field preferred.
• 1–3 years of experience at an interior design firm, architecture firm, or related creative studio.
• Strong eye for design with a deep interest in residential interiors, antiques, and decorative arts.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop), GSuite, and Studio Designer.
• Exceptional organizational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable interfacing with vendors, clients, and tradespeople.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced studio.
• Positive, collaborative attitude and a willingness to roll up sleeves on tasks of all sizes.
• Authorization to work in the United States.
