Creating an immersive paneled library required Young Huh to design from all angles.
When Young Huh’s clients walked her through their new Park Avenue penthouse, the New York designer immediately saw potential. The space, purchased from a well-known collector, had low ceilings and a sparse, gallery-like aesthetic, but was ready for reinvention with a bit of architectural interest. Yet the project’s transformation from a stark white box to a luminous retreat in shades of cream and gold hit a few bumps in the road—most notably when the team opened up the unit’s ceiling to discover a network of crisscrossed pipes and ducts that could not be moved, and which precluded the firm’s plans for an elegant coffered ceiling.
