New executives at Nate Berkus (his first-ever partner!), Tsao McKown and more

Summer’s winding down (eek!) and sweater weather is just around the corner .... These industry professionals have gotten a jump on the season—they’re rolling up their sleeves to begin new chapters. Read on to learn about the latest hires in design, manufacturing, media and more.

MEDIA & PR

Anna Logan has been named associate editor at One Kings Lane. She was previously market editor at Traditional Home.

Alyssa Paugh, formerly a director at Paul Wilmot Communications in New York, has joined the Home + Design team at Nike Communications as account director.

New York PR firm BDE has had a number of promotions recently. Karen Brooking, 20 years deep at the firm, has become the senior vice president; Beth Massey is now vice president; Alyssa Young now oversees account management as program director of nonprofit Be Original Americas, in addition to her current responsibilities as account manager at BDE; and Nicole Ciminera is now senior account manager.

ARCHITECTURE & DESIGN

Nate Berkus has named Lauren Buxbaum Gordon as first-ever partner at his eponymous design firm. Gordon served as his design director for 17 years before the move.

Cobus Gauche has joined the team at Tsao & McKown Architects as director of operations. He had been with interior designers David Easton and James Steinmeyer at Easton Steinmeyer & Associates for more nearly 17 years.

International architecture and design firm Perkins and Will has appointed Robin Ault as design director at its Denver studio. He will lead and oversee each project, work with in-house teams and clients and continue to expand the firm into other areas of design, like higher education and commercial.

Lillian Baker is the latest addition to the team at Lisa Kahn Designs in Naples, Florida. She is taking the newly created role of bookkeeper, overseeing the company’s finances.

International design firm Wilson Associates has appointed Roy Posey as design director at its Dubai studio. He will lead future hospitality projects in the Middle East and Africa. He has held previous leadership roles at design firms Keane, Hirsch Bedner Associates and the Honest Group.

Los Angeles–based architecture firm Blitz has named Kate Chapman as managing director of its new studio in Denver—the company’s third location. The firm will also expand its Los Angeles office.

MANUFACTURING & RETAIL

New Zealand–based appliance brand Fisher & Paykel named four new executives to its North American team: Fraser Allan, chief financial officer; Jeff Gunderson, senior vice president of retail sales; Jason Dillon, vice president of builder sales; and Pierre Martin, vice president of marketing.

Glen Raven Custom Fabrics, the parent company of Sunbrella, appointed Steve Pawl as chief marketing officer—the first ever for the company. He will, through a variety of responsibilities, ultimately increase the sell-through of products that feature Sunbrella. He has prior experience at international consumer brands including Fruit of the Loom and Newell Brands. Why was now the time for Glen Raven, which launched Sunbrella in 1961, to make a marketing hire at the C-suite level? “It’s the recognition that in today’s world, with all the clutter and fragmentation, having great-performing product is the first thing, having great designs is second, and now the next wave of being successful is having a brand that consumers connect with,” Pawl told BOH.

New York fabric brand Zimmer+Rohde has appointed Susan DeAngelis as a new outside sales manager. She has held similar roles at Cowtan & Tout, Robert Allen, Osborne & Little, Thibaut and others.
