March’s can’t-miss design events

Along with a slate of annual and seasonal events, this month’s roundup includes a few long-awaited happenings held over from the winter wave of the coronavirus. Read on for BOH’s monthly calendar highlights, including conferences, trade shows, showhouses and design discussions.

Design Edge Seattle
Seattle | March 2–3
Design Edge Co. heads to the Pacific Northwest for a two-day event geared toward interior designers from Washington, Oregon, Vancouver and surrounding areas. Held at Fremont Studios in Seattle’s Fremont Arts District, the conference will give designers access to home-furnishings brands and executives, along with product previews, educational programming and networking activities. Highlights include an opening day panel on “What’s Next in Wellness and Sustainable Design” featuring Barclay Butera and Thom Filicia along with executives from Palecek, Seasonal Living and Vanguard; a session on how designers can leverage flat fees for billing, led by design coach and author Melissa Galt; and a closing day panel discussion featuring designers Beth Dotolo, Paula Kennedy and Garrison Hullinger, along with executives from Taylor King, Woodbridge and Charleston Forge. Inspired Home Show
Chicago | March 7
Held at McCormick Place, the 2022 edition of the Inspired Home Show presents more than 1,000 exhibiting companies and brands covering thousands of product categories across home and housewares, along with educational programming and talks from industry experts. To make the show more easily navigable, organizers segmented the show into five expositions grouped by product type, each with its own unique on-floor attractions: Clean and Contain, Dine and Decor, Discover Design, Wired and Well, and International Sourcing. Digital Day at ADAC
Atlanta | March 9
Created as a resource for both new and expert designers to thrive in the digital environment, this in-person forum offers sessions on topics such as the current state of digital marketing and design influencers, the best way to digitally source art for your clients and an overview of advances in lighting technology. Tune in to a variety of panels and presentations, with highlights including Nylon Consulting founder Laura Bindloss on top social media trends for 2022 and White Label Studio founder Mollie Surratt on building strategic brand relationships. London Design Week
Virtual and London | March 13–18
Hosted at Design Centre in Chelsea Harbour, this year’s edition of London Design Week features the latest offerings from 120 international showrooms and 600 brands, along with artist demonstrations, panel events and business-focused sessions. Visitors can also catch a glimpse of the event’s offerings at the Inspiration Gallery, where products will be fashioned in vignettes alongside places to eat and drink. For more info, click here.

Westweek
West Hollywood, California | March 23
Held at the Pacific Design Center, Westweek is back for a slate of curated showrooms and in-person events, including talks and panels from design icons and innovators. Highlights include an event moderated by Business of Home’s editor in chief Kaitlin Petersen, who will engage designers Amy Meier and Tina Ramchandani in a conversation about the streamlined minimalist aesthetic upon which they’ve built their thriving brands and businesses. Paris Déco Off
Paris | March 23–28
After its original January dates were postponed due to the omicron variant of the coronavirus, Paris Déco Off returns as planned for its slate of product debuts and programming geared toward an international audience of interior designers. For more info, click here.

Maison & Objet
Virtual and Paris | March 24–28
Another event postponed from January by the recent wave of the coronavirus, Maison & Objet is back in person at the Paris Nord Villepinte Exhibition Centre with presentations from 3,000 exhibitors and 600 new brands, centered on the theme of “New Luxury.” Along with this year’s offerings, the fair includes a number of partnered events with interior designers, galleries and craftspeople located throughout Paris for the Maison & Objet in the City program. Marburger Farm Antique Show
Round Top, Texas | March 29–April 2
This twice-yearly event has served as an antique destination for more than 20 years, and returns this season with offerings from over 300 dealers around the world. Product categories include fine art, garden, industrial, jewelry, paintings and prints, silver, textiles and vintage clothing, representing styles such as midcentury modern, Americana, Asian, Native American, Western and more. Asia Week New York
New York | March 16–25
The annual edition of Asia Week New York returns, celebrating fine art and craftsmanship from the region with gallery exhibitions, auction sales and museum shows spread out across the city. For the event, 22 international galleries will open their doors to the public, along with four others hosting online exhibitions, while Bonhams, Christie’s, Doyle, Heritage Auctions, iGavel and Sotheby’s plan to hold 14 in-person auctions.
