In the BOH series What I Love, we’re asking designers to build us a mood board of what’s inspiring them right now.
Lauren Wodicka likes to mix patterns. The Loudoun County, Virginia–based designer behind LBW Studio has a knack for layering eye-catching prints and unexpected color combinations without overpowering a space. “I’m drawn to timeless textiles with a fresh, fashion-forward edge,” she tells Business of Home.
She approached her current flat lay with a similar ethos. Inspired by her favorite motifs, including her tortoiseshell-framed eyeglasses, Wodicka incorporated everything from playful nautical prints to contemporary ikat patterns into the scheme. “It’s all about tradition,” she says. “Greek keys, classic stripes, flame stitches, and a touch of British influence.”
A through line of natural materials and classical details balances out the bolder elements of the design. “Rattan and bone add warmth and a hint of coastal ease, while patterned lampshades and sculptural lighting bring in that layer of polish and luxury that I love,” she explains.
Here, the designer breaks down the details, from a hand-painted side table to a French walnut and olive ash burl chest.
