In the BOH series What I Love, we’re asking designers to build us a mood board of what’s inspiring them right now.
Striped linen shades, Calacatta marble counters, a lovingly aged chesterfield leather sofa: The classics speak to Kristin Harrison, and she hears them loud and clear. By artfully placing such traditional pieces in contemporary interiors, the Northern Virginia–based designer styles timeless spaces that are subtle in color, rich in texture and supremely livable. “As soon as you walk in, you feel immediately at ease,” she says.

Harrison—who recently rebranded her business from Bungalow 10 Interiors to Georgia & Hunt Design House, a full-service collective committed to harmonizing form and function—based her current flat lay on the palette of the Montage at Palmetto Bluff. Situated along the May River in South Carolina’s Lowcountry, the luxurious yet laid-back resort encompasses a nature preserve, a scenic marina, a signature golf course, horse stables and more. “It’s one of my favorite places to visit,” says the designer. She captures a similar low-key men’s-club vibe in her mood board through choices like a historical blue-gray paint paired with custom white oak wall paneling; a hand-knotted wool rug featuring neutral brown and gray dashes atop an all-natural pile; and a Craftsman-esque brass billiard-style pendant with mirrored glass panes.
For a refreshing wash of color, linen wallpaper in pale sky blue picks up on the paint hue, while a lush, pastoral wallcovering of sisal and cotton interjects leafy branches of sage green. A big round vase with a stippled black finish provides an accent that’s equal parts rustic and industrial, and smoky amber tealight holders add spots of warmth. “The muted textures and colors create depth and interest without being too saturated and heavy,” says Harrison. “It’s an updated, airy, traditional mood.” Below, the designer details the products that embody her aesthetic.
