What fall trends are you looking forward to?

Bold and Beautiful
“For this fall’s trends, I can’t wait to see dramatic marbles and quartzites with bold movement. They add a bold architectural statement and become the main character in the home. They’re also striking when layered with the cozy textures and warm tones that we naturally gravitate toward in the fall. Another trend I see is more mixing of unexpected metallics together. Instead of sticking to one finish, pairing polished nickel with antique brass, or satin nickel with bronze, adds distinctive layers. The interplay feels freshly warm and a little daring.” —Amy Lee McArdle, Amy Young Designs, Palm Beach and New York

Rich Hues
“I am seeing a lot of burgundy, navy and forest greens trending right now, which I am so excited for. These are colors people tend to be afraid of, so I am excited to see them trending because once people start to see something done often and done well, they become more open to the idea of it. After meeting with my sales reps and seeing all the new fall collections for wallpaper and fabrics, I am really looking forward to incorporating those collections with rich colors, because layering patterns is what I do best. I am also seeing a lot of natural textures, wood tones, and warm, cozy vibes trending, which is also exciting because I have a job in production that was somewhat ahead of that trend, so photographing and putting it out there this fall will be perfect timing.” —Hilary Hays Greenhalgh, Little Green House Interiors, Malvern, Pennsylvania

Earthy Tones
“This fall, I’ve been especially drawn to interiors that embrace rich, earthy tones—deep greens, terra cottas and warm browns that feel grounding as the season shifts and temperatures cool. These colors naturally create a sense of comfort and depth, but what excites me even more is the way they’re being paired with 1960s- and ’70s-inspired design elements such as high-gloss lacquers, glass-topped tables, and sleek metals like chrome and aluminum. The pairing of warm tones and tactile textures with nostalgic, eye-catching details creates spaces that feel both elevated and effortlessly lived-in. It’s a style that honors history while feeling current, cozy and full of personality.” —Holly-Beth Potter, Side Angle Side, Austin

Choose Your Own Adventure
“This might be an unpopular opinion, but I don’t really pay much attention to trends. Don’t get me wrong, trends can be fun while they’re happening, and they’re a great way to experiment, but they always fade. For me, the most important thing when styling a home is making it feel like you. Houses and rooms need soul, and the only way to achieve that is by surrounding yourself with things that spark joy and comfort. That might mean colors you’re drawn to, furnishings that feel inviting, or quirky objects that hold memories. When you look around your home, it should tell your story, not echo someone else’s Pinterest board. So this fall, I’m looking forward to cozy blankets I can sink into, my wonderfully weird collection of Halloween decorations I’ve accumulated over the years, and yes—the slightly tacky color-changing LED lights I’ll put outside because they make my kids ridiculously happy. At the end of the day, design isn’t about perfection—it’s about personality. A home should feel lived-in, loved and a little bit like magic.” —Gray Benko, Gray Benko Home, Summerville, South Carolina
