The magazine’s 12th annual Best of Year awards, which unfolded at the Frank Gehry-designed IAC Building in New York earlier this month, welcomed over 1,000 pros from the architecture and design community in celebration of top products and projects.
“We love shining a light on the incredible work—both projects and product—being done in all sectors. The Best of Year event is a true celebration of our peers and community, and one of my favorite nights of the year,” said Interior Design editor in chief, Cindy Allen.
From thousands of entries from more than 50 countries, winners and honorees across 50 project categories and 63 product categories were chosen. Product category winners were also chosen by upwards of 250,000 public votes. Six new categories, including Packaging, Marketing & Branding, Tabletop, Automotive: Interiors, Automotive: Overall Design and Automotive: Concept Car, were added this year. Among this year’s winners were the 1Hotel Brooklyn Bridge Park by INC Architecture & Design, Marvel Architects, and Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates; Bund Finance Centre Art and Culture Centre by Foster + Partners and Heatherwick Studio; and the Suzhou Chapel by Neri&Hu Design and Research Office.
“We are so appreciative of the contributions that this year’s entrants have made to the design world. It’s great to be able to bring attention to their incredible projects and products. The entries keep getting better every year!” said the magazine’s publisher, Carol Cisco.
Among the attendees were Karim Rashid, Brad Zizmor of A+I, Paul Masi of Bates Masi, Laura Gottwald of LG& Design Associates, Patrick Tighe of Tighe Architecture, Clive Wilkinson of Clive Wilkinson Architects, Rysia Suchecka of NBBJ, Arthur Casas of Studio Arthur Casas, Michael Gabellini of Gabellini Sheppard, Lee Mindel of Shelton, Mindel & Associates, Olivier Saguez of Saguez & Partners, and more.
