AI can help. “Let’s say the picture from the manufacturer has a beige plain fabric on a sofa, and I want to use a pattern from Lee Jofa,” says Lauren De Meules Daley, principal at Alameda, California–based Sand & Stars Design. “I input the picture of the sofa, and I say, ‘Put this fabric on it’—I’m pretty specific with the manufacturer and the item number, the fabric colorway, and Gemini will send me back a pretty good rendering.”
