Kelly Wearstler, Aero and Jiun Ho are among the nine new showrooms swinging open their doors this year at the New York Design Center. The center, which serves as home sweet home to 100-plus spaces, representing more than 500 lines of furniture, fabric, floor coverings, kitchen, bath, lighting, accessories, 20th-century vintage and antiques, is spread out over 33,000 square feet in New York. AMQ, Bradley, Crosby Street, Leftbank Art, Plexi-Craft and Seguso are also entering the scene in the coming seasons.

"2016 marks our 90th anniversary," says NYDC president and CEO Jim Druckman. "Our rich history allows us to continue as the finest marketplace for interior designers, architects and their clients. We look forward to celebrating this milestone throughout the coming year."

Discover the center's new offerings from some of the industry's top names:

Opening on the 15th floor, Aero is celebrating its 20th year with a new home for its selection of refurbished vintage modern furniture and lighting, antiques, fine art, tableware, accessories and collectibles, as well as the most comprehensive stock of Thomas O’Brien brand home furnishings. “I’ve been excited about what’s happening at 200 Lex, and by the way this building has stepped forward to become such a great resource that is significantly busy with designers and wonderful dealers,” Thomas O'Brien, Aero founder and president, tells EAL. “I’m certainly looking forward to creating our new space, and reinventing Aero once more in this idea of a store and studio together—how to define that in a fresh way. I’m always intrigued by change and evolution, and it feels like the right time to bring Aero to this community and neighborhood where so much fantastic design is centered today.”

Plexi-Craft, the oldest acrylic furnishings company, will launch their new flagship in Suite 914. The space was designed with Alan Tanksley and will feature selections of the company’s Signature Collection, unique custom capabilities and collaborative collections with New York-based designers like Tanksley, Coffinier-Ku, and Timothy Whealon.

“What better location for our 50-year-old, second-generation family business than the 90-year-old, second-generation-run NYDC?” asks Allen Frechter, Plexi-Craft president and co-owner. The company will showcase “our Signature Collection, custom capabilities and NYC-based designer collaborations. Our showroom is open now, but mark your calendars for our grand opening on April 12,” he shares.

San Francisco-based interior and home furnishings designer Jiun Ho is bringing his travel-inspired furniture, lighting, accessories and select pieces from other collections to the NYDC, with an especial focus on the Jiun Ho V Collection, created in celebration of the brand's 15th anniversary. "When the doors open to my new showroom, Jiun Ho at Dennis Miller, visitors will be immersed in a total design experience inspired by my travels across five continents. The new environment will take the Jiun Ho brand to the next level, offering unique displays of my furniture and lighting collections, enhanced by special editions of accessories, photography and art,” says Jiun Ho, president. “I want the space to have both a visual and emotional impact that will lure people back again and again to see what’s new.”

Also on the horizon: Furniture, lighting and decorative home accessory collections at Kelly Wearstler; full-service research, technical, and creative capabilities at Crosby Street; furnishings created from reclaimed wood, concrete, hand-forged metal, antiqued mirror, painted glass at Bradley, opening in March; open-plan office solutions at AMQ; 8,000-plus works of art at Leftbank Art; and 23-generation company Seguso's authentic Murano glass art, lighting, furniture, accessories and custom pieces.

As Druckman shares, "The New York Design Center is thrilled to welcome these nine exciting, diverse resources to the building." Learn more and stay tuned for opening dates.
