In the BOH series What I Love, we’re asking designers to build us a mood board of what’s inspiring them right now.
Naïka André is dreaming of spring. The Stamford, Connecticut–based designer behind NJA Interiors longs for the soothing colors and sprightly motifs that the upcoming months will bring. “Subtle signs of renewal appear: softened textures, organic forms and a palette that bridges earthy warmth with the freshness of new growth,” she tells Business of Home.
For her current mood board, she incorporated everything from a blossomy upholstery print to an antique fertility doll to evoke the hopeful spirit of the vernal season. “This flat lay is a visual ode to transition—the quiet, hopeful moment when winter’s hush gives way to the early stirrings of spring,” says André. “It’s not yet the full bloom of spring, but the world is stretching awake—branches unfurl, snow recedes and light shifts just enough to hint at brighter days ahead.”
A grounding blend of natural materials and ethereal elements draws the design together, while an assortment of perky pastel hues energize the scheme. “The mood is one of emergence and anticipation,” she says. “There’s a sense of balance—between stillness and movement, warmth and coolness, history and new beginnings.”
