About our Company

Dakota Jackson is one of the leading American furniture design brands, known for exquisite craftsmanship, intriguing engineering and distinctive designs for over half of a century. Born into a family of professional magicians, Jackson grew up following in their footsteps. These experiences with performing, illusion and spectacle have deeply informed his design sensibilities.

Encompassing a broad selection of furnishings Dakota Jackson furniture is the centerpiece of some of the most luxurious private homes, offices and hotels globally. Noteworthy among his designs is the Library Chair™, first developed for architect James Freed’s San Francisco Public Library and currently in use in libraries across the country, including Harvard, NYU, Stanford, and the Minneapolis Public Library.

In 2000, Steinway and Sons invited Dakota Jackson to design the “TriCentennial Piano,” an edition of 300 pianos commemorating the 300th anniversary of the instrument’s invention. In 2013, Jackson and Steinway introduced the “Arabesque” Limited Edition Grand Concert Piano, which celebrates the 160th anniversary of the founding of Steinway & Sons. The Limited Edition “Black Diamond” Concert Piano followed and is an homage to the virtuoso classical pianist, Lang Lang. The Black Diamond received international attention after its premier at the Philharmonie de Paris.
