In a pair of monochromatic spaces, the New York designer mixes textures, materials and tones for a sophisticated look.
Young Huh isn’t afraid to mix bold colors and patterns. To add interest to a client’s teal-painted living room in East Hampton, she integrated an assortment of graphic prints and varying shades of blue. “We wanted the space to feel color drenched and interesting, but also orderly to the eye,” she says.
She took a similar approach when designing a green-hued dining room in a Manhattan townhouse. The scheme showcases everything from pink glass chandeliers to multicolored floral wallpaper and dining chairs clad in zigzag-emblazoned upholstery. “Other colors are necessary for the scheme to feel layered, but should be used sparingly,” she shares. “Use woods, leathers and antiques to bring warmth and soul to the space.”
