The Los Angeles designer shares projects from his latest book and demystifies the art of stacking textiles.
Layering fabrics has always been in Nathan Turner’s toolbox. Over his decadeslong career, the Los Angeles–based designer has only sharpened that skill set. “As I’ve grown as a designer, I’m more confident and I know how to do it. I love textiles, I love prints, I love color, so it’s something that I’ve always used,” he says. “In the beginning, it’s a little scary. I definitely remember early on being a little afraid and intimidated to go bold or put things on walls. That’s the beauty of experience and age. You’re like, ‘Oh, I know how this is going to turn out. It’s going to be great.’”
