Drapery and shades are the secret weapons of a design scheme—framing windows like artworks, softly filtering sunlight, and providing a sense of privacy and enclosure that turns a stark space into a cozy escape. But because windows can be such an idiosyncratic feature, varying in size and location throughout a home, specifying for them can be a challenge. Ray Chen, founder of TWOPAGES, knows from personal experience: His frustration with the process when designing his own home—and the sticker shock he suffered when the bill arrived—motivated him to start a DTC company that streamlined and consolidated every aspect of the transaction. At TWOPAGES, special measurement tools and installation support solve the mysteries of customization; shipping time is quick; and the products themselves, made primarily from sustainable materials, are top quality.
Having built a reputation for timeless curtains, shades and blinds in classic neutral palettes, the brand is now branching out with adventurous collections. In mid-April, as part of its ongoing 11th anniversary celebrations, TWOPAGES will launch a captivating collaboration with TikTok and YouTube fashion influencer Ms. Maverick Muse that features florals, stripes and nostalgia-tinged toile in pastel pink, green and blue. Decked out in a retro pink frock herself, the quirky content creator joined Chen at The Spot in New York on March 19 for a cocktail party, where interior designers, members of the media and other industry VIPs gathered to raise a glass in honor of the innovative brand. On the eve of the collection’s debut, Chen reflects on his company’s origin story, business vision and upcoming initiatives.
What’s the story behind the company’s name?
When I first decorated my own home, I was unaware that curtain prices were calculated by different factors. After eagerly awaiting delivery of my order, I unexpectedly received another invoice to account for additional material and customization. That was disappointing, to say the least! I realized then that many people faced similar struggles and unwelcome surprises due to the convoluted and costly process of purchasing curtains. But I believe that curtains should be the home decor equivalent of just two pages—nothing more complicated than that. This conviction is what inspired me to start the company.
Window treatments play both a functional and emotional role. Practically, they manage light, provide privacy and improve comfort. Aesthetically, they help frame the architecture of a room and soften the overall environment. The right curtain or roller shade can bring balance to a space, imbuing it with texture, warmth and a sense of completion. At TWOPAGES, buying luxury drapes is affordable and hassle-free—as easy as ordering from a menu.
TWOPAGES has been in business for 11 years. What stands out to you about your journey?
I founded TWOPAGES in 2015 with the goal of simplifying a traditionally complicated home category: custom window treatments. When we first entered the market, we saw that purchasing curtains, blinds and shades was often a confusing undertaking marked by limited transparency and long lead times. From the beginning, our goal was to combine thoughtful designs and quality materials with a clear, straightforward purchasing experience. In the decade since, TWOPAGES has grown into a design-forward brand that helps industry pros and their clients create spaces that feel calm, functional and thoughtfully styled.
Like most founders in the early stages of starting a business, I had to wear many hats—from product development to operations and logistics. Being closely involved in customer service was especially valuable. It allowed me to understand directly what customers struggled with when buying window treatments, and helped shape the systems and tools we later built to streamline the process. Window treatments are highly customizable, which can make shopping for them overwhelming. Working across multiple roles taught me how important clarity and simplicity are for customers. It strengthened my determination to build a more intuitive customer experience and offer clear product information, transparent pricing, and tools that facilitate confident decisions.
Across the portfolio, what characterizes TWOPAGES products?
Our products are defined by three principles: flawless fabrication, affordable luxury, and a vast selection of materials and styles. We aim to deliver the look and feel of high-end window treatments while offering accessible pricing and a simplified purchasing process.
And customization is part of your suite of services?
It’s our specialty. Designers can personalize many aspects of their chosen style, including fabric, lining, headers, hardware and dimensions. Our platform is designed to make customization intuitive and straightforward, allowing designers to specify products that fit their projects precisely.
How did your collaboration with Ms. Maverick Muse come about?
TWOPAGES has always been interested in collaborations that bring new creative perspectives into the home design sector. Ms. Maverick Muse has built a distinctive voice through her vintage-inspired style and storytelling across YouTube and TikTok. Her aesthetic celebrates individuality, nostalgia and expressive interiors, which makes her a compelling partner for exploring a more playful and energetic side of window treatments. It was wonderful to celebrate with her in New York earlier this month as part of the TWOPAGES anniversary festivities.
Whom do you hope to reach through this partnership?
By combining vintage soul with modern charm, the collaboration expands TWOPAGES beyond traditional home furnishings into a broader lifestyle realm. We hope to reach a diverse audience that is increasingly interested in personality-driven interiors. Many people today discover design inspiration through digital content creators, and collaborations like this allow us to connect with those who see the home as not just a functional space but also an expression of identity.
How has TWOPAGES interpreted her unique perspective?
“Design dopamine” refers to the positive emotional impact that color, pattern and texture can bring to a space. While maintaining the craftsmanship and materiality that TWOPAGES is known for, this limited-edition collaboration explores whimsical patterns and pretty visual moments that spark joy. Inspired by vintage prints, the collection showcases five distinctly feminine directions, from traditional European toile and soft Regency-style florals to romantic chinoiserie blossoms, crisp stripes and midcentury modern motifs. Rendered in a curated color palette that blends earthy green, blue and brown with delicate ivory and dusky rose, the designs create spaces that feel vibrant, nostalgic and effortlessly elegant.
Separate from the new collaboration, what are some of your most popular styles?
The Liz pleated linen drape is a favorite for its natural texture and comfortable refinement. Our Relaxed Roman shades are coveted for their soft folds and casual classicism. Customers find the dimensionality and versatile styling that characterize our Jawara luxury linen-cotton curtains enticing. These three styles work particularly well because they function as quiet foundations while still bringing warmth and tactility to a space.
What else do you see trending in window treatments these days?
Customers increasingly gravitate toward natural textures and soft neutrals—linen, cotton and woven materials that create a calm, organic atmosphere. At the same time, we note growing interest in functional innovation, such as motorized or cordless Roman shades that deliver added convenience.
“Conscious creation” and “conscious consumption” are two tenets of your business philosophy: How do they inform the TWOPAGES portfolio?
These ideas influence both the materials we choose and the way we design our window treatments. We prioritize natural materials such as cotton, bamboo, silk and wool, which are favorites for their natural texture, fluid drape and classic aesthetic. Linen is one of our most popular materials, especially in collections like Liz and Jawara. Pure flax linen collections such as Patti, Doris and Joy are made from fibers responsibly sourced from Belgium and other regions of Europe known for producing high-quality linen with a lower environmental footprint. Our goal is to create blinds, shades and drapery that are durable, timeless and thoughtfully made. The fact that people will enjoy our product for years, rather than replacing it after a couple of seasons, reflects our commitment to intentional consumption.
Where and how are the items made?
Our window treatments are manufactured in TWOPAGES-owned, vertically integrated facilities in Hangzhou, China. By overseeing the entire process—from sourcing materials and weaving fibers to tailoring and creating finishing touches—we are able to maintain strict quality standards and ensure consistency.
Do you offer special benefits to members of the trade?
Whether an interior designer or a home stager, an architect or a contractor, a developer or a small retailer, industry professionals of all kinds gain a true partner when they join the TWOPAGES trade program. Members receive unlimited free samples and first looks at new launches. Prices are discounted, and there’s no purchase minimum. What is the TWOPAGES Curtain Glow-Up Challenge? Can designers participate?
Yes, the contest is open to all. Transform a space with our curtains; share your before-and-after photos or video on Instagram, Facebook or TikTok, tagging TWOPAGES; and you could win $10,000—that’s for first place. There are monetary prizes for the top 10, as well as gift cards just for participating. But the deadline to enter is coming up soon: March 31. All the details are on our website.
On the West Coast, the TWOPAGES community extends to four-legged friends.
To support animal rescue and adoption, we hosted a month-long charitable initiative during last year’s holiday season. Over the course of four weeks around Thanksgiving, 5 percent of sales from select pet-friendly products in Seattle and Los Angeles were donated to Seattle Humane and the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals L.A., respectively. We know that pets are an important part of the family, so we wanted to help rescues find their forever homes. That seasonal campaign is a perfect example of our ongoing commitment to supporting local communities and causes that matter to our customers.
Are any other highlights on the horizon?
To mark the milestone of our 11th anniversary, we’ll be launching several exciting initiatives, including new collaborations and creative partnerships, plus another design contest that invites our community to participate. Beyond that, we will continue to introduce collections and activations throughout the year. It’s a big moment for the brand, and we’re looking forward to sharing more soon.
How would you articulate the company vision going forward?
To define modern home living through clear design, functional beauty and a seamless customer experience. Our core values—integrity, innovation and trust—guide how we create products, communicate with customers and build long-term relationships with our community.
For interior designers, reliability and efficiency are critical when sourcing window treatments. TWOPAGES offers them a frictionless exchange—clear product specifications and a wide selection of materials and styles. We strive to remove the most common pain points so they can focus on the creative aspects of their work, trusting that the technical details are handled with precision. Measurement guides and tools, educational how-to videos, free design consultations, and fast production and delivery all help designers and their clients move from inspiration to installation with confidence.
