Junior and Senior Design Opportunities
Full-time | $75,000–$150,000 annually, depending on experience and role
Position Overview
We’re building our team at the 1818 Interiors. Founded by Kristin Fine and Analisse Taft-Gersten, we’re a small boutique residential interior design firm looking for creative, organized designers who are excited to help bring our projects to life.
You’ll work directly with us on residential interiors, from the first ideas through the final installation. We value fresh thinking and a strong design eye, along with the organization, clear communication, and follow-through that keep projects moving.
We’re seeking candidates at both junior and senior levels. Junior designers will support design development and project coordination; senior designers will lead projects and take greater ownership of clients, budgets, procurement, and execution.
What You Will Do
• Contribute to residential projects from concept development through installation.
• Create drawings, specifications, material palettes, and client presentations.
• Source furnishings, lighting, finishes, textiles, art, and accessories.
• Coordinate product information, vendor follow-ups, and project records using Studio Designer.
• Participate in client and trade meetings, site visits, and installations.
• At the senior level, manage schedules, budgets, procurement, client communication, and coordination with contractors and vendors.
We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and are committed to fostering an inclusive workplace. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, genetic information, pregnancy, citizenship or immigration status, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local law.
What You Will Bring
• Junior: at least 3 years of professional interior design or closely related design experience.
• Senior: at least 5 years of professional interior design experience, including experience in a senior role leading residential projects.
• Proficiency in Studio Designer, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite; SketchUp or comparable rendering software is a plus.
• Familiarity with AI tools and the ability to use them thoughtfully for research, presentations, organization, and everyday workflows.
• A strong design eye, attention to detail, organization, and reliable follow-through.
• Clear communication and a collaborative, resourceful approach to working in a small firm.
Location and Flexibility
Candidates must live in the tri-state area and be able to commute for in-person work. Work-from-home or hybrid opportunities may be available, depending on the role and project needs. Travel to New York City, the Hamptons, and project sites is required, with occasional evening or weekend work for installations.
