Rinfret, Ltd. is seeking a highly organized, creative, and detail-oriented Junior Designer to join our Greenwich, Connecticut studio. This is a full-time, in-office position offering the opportunity to work closely with the principals and senior design team across multiple high-end residential projects.
The Junior Designer will support the design team throughout all phases of a project, from initial concept development and sourcing through purchasing, construction coordination, and final installation. This role is ideal for someone who is eager to grow within a collaborative design environment while gaining hands-on experience in both the creative and technical aspects of residential interior design.
Day-to-day responsibilities include sourcing furniture, fabrics, wallcoverings, lighting, accessories, materials, and finishes; assisting with client presentations and design boards; preparing and updating floor plans, furniture plans, elevations, and other project drawings; organizing the studio, and gathering samples and product information for internal design reviews.
The Junior Designer will also assist with vendor coordination, including requesting quotes, pricing, samples, lead times, and specifications; maintaining organized project records and correspondence; and helping prepare proposals and project documentation. They will work closely with senior designers to track selections, orders, deadlines, and outstanding project items.
• Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or a related field.
• 2–3 years of professional experience within an interior design or architecture firm, preferably in high-end residential design.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, with the ability to accurately review furniture plans, elevations, and basic design documentation.
• Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Excel, and other industry-standard design and presentation programs. Proficiency in Studio Designer, or similar program, is not required but a plus.
• Experience sourcing furniture, fabrics, lighting, wallcoverings, finishes, and other FF&E.
• Ability to assist in creating polished client presentations, material schemes, and design boards.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain accurate project files, schedules, specifications, pricing, and correspondence.
• Excellent attention to detail, particularly when reviewing dimensions, product information, pricing, lead times, and project documentation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and confidence communicating professionally with vendors, showrooms, fabricators, and other project partners.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple deadlines, and respond proactively to the needs of the design team.
• Positive, collaborative attitude with a willingness to take initiative and contribute wherever needed.
• Willingness to travel locally and to project sites, showrooms, sourcing appointments, and installations as needed.
