It’s the unofficial start of summer, and design brands across the globe have unleashed a slew of spirited collections to mark the occasion. From flowery weather-safe upholstery to antique chintz–inspired wallcoverings, here are some of our favorites from the recent round of releases.
Studio McGee’s Claude collection for Kohler strikes the balance between form and functionality. Brimming with decorative details, the series spans 18 innovative bathroom designs, among them a state-of-the-art smart toilet with a sculptural silhouette; a freestanding bathtub with architectural moldings; and a chamfered console sink with integrated metal towel racks and storage shelf.
Zoffany tapped Michael S. Smith for a summer-ready collection of outdoor-friendly fabrics. The debut reimagines an array of archival patterns as 14 high-performing designs, such as the subtly striated Filigree Bellagio Stripe; the tonal Thorny Vine; the botanically banded Lily Stripe; and Winter Garden, which is inspired by an 18th century French silk chiné fabric.
Pittsburgh-based Otea Textiles released La Maestra, its second collection of wallpapers and fabrics. An ode to old-world maximalism, the line features six delightful hand-drawn patterns in multiple colorways, with standouts such as the celestial O Sole Mio, the painterly Marconi Stripe and the blossomy Rose.
Max Lamb teamed up with Swedish brand Hem on a circularity-driven iteration of the British designer’s iconic Economy chair. Available in September, the geometric design, dubbed Min, is cut from a single slab of pinewood at precise angles to form a backrest, legs and a seat—and ensure almost no material is wasted during the production process.
Thos. Moser’s Intervale table offers a fresh spin on traditional farmhouse furniture. Handmade in collaboration with Portland, Maine–based Adam Rogers Studio, the North American hardwood design is offered in cherry and walnut and features a clean-lined trestle base with self-storing extension leaves.
Nordic Knots rolled out a coastal-style collection of sunbaked textiles. Along with sunny yellow pillow covers and light-diffusing sheer wool curtains, launches include a striped cotton-linen bedspread and the Plaid rug, a flatweave with fringed edges and a faded check motif.
Fireclay Tile debuted a new line of interlocking ceramic flooring patterns for the whole home. Offered in a range of glazes and stains with slip-resistant finishes, introductions include the octagonal Atrium, the rhythmic Hacienda, the stained glass–inspired Mission, the dotted Portico, the Victorian-style Gramercy and the weave-like Lattice.
Australian surface design studio Quercus & Co. introduced The Drawing Room collection. Among the noteworthy newcomers from the hand-illustrated line of fabrics and wallpapers are the 18th century indienne chintz–inspired Flora; the undulating, Rococo-style Meander; and the loosely striped Stitch.
American Leather dropped three new designs for spring. The Arcade bed by Alfredo Paredes features a contemporary channel-upholstered frame, while the Sedona M-Series sofa showcases gently sloped arms and pleated details. The final debut, Gideon, offers a streamlined sofa with cutting-edge motion technology.
Babyletto dropped three playful bed frames designed especially for growing kids. In addition to the adorable house-shaped Uchi, debuts include the midcentury modern Palma and Moab, a loft bed with an easy-to-climb staircase and an arched hideaway outfitted with a corner desk, drawers and shelving.
