New showroom doors swing open this winter

From sleek Scandinavian design found in the heart of Paris to Italian furniture discovered in New York’s design district, this season’s crop of showroom openings boast the best of European design, both stateside and abroad. Read on to discover EAL’s roundup of the latest showroom debuts from renowned brands including Florim, Arper, Posse Furniture and more.

New York

Florim recently debuted its New York flagship showroom. The 5,400-square-foot space encompasses two floors and features the brand’s tile and ceramics collections displayed in an array of vignettes on the main floor. The lower floor hosts model rooms, meetings spaces, a lecture and conference hall and an event space. (152 Madison Ave)

Last month, Italian contract furniture company Arper opened its New York flagship, a 4,000-square-foot space in a historic SoHo building. Showcased are the company’s chairs, including task, lounge and contract models, as well as sofas and tables, such as the Kinesit task chair, Catifa collections and Parentesit acoustic panels, designed by Lievore Altherr Molina. Also available are the Steeve sofa by Jean-Marie Massaud, Cross table by Fattorini+Rizzini+Partners, Pix ottomans and tables by Ichiro Iwasaki, Nuur table by Simon Pengelly, and Juno chair by James Irvine. Interior designer Sasha Bikoff will launch an antiques and furniture pop-up store in the Manhattan’s Tribeca neighborhood next month, selling Italian and French midcentury furniture upholstered in Hermès, Pucci and Dolce & Gabbana fabrics, as well as in cashmere, silk and velvet. It will also sell accessories and artwork. The store will remain open until June 2016. (459 Washington St)

Brandys of Burr Ridge

Design store Brandys of Burr Ridge has reopened in a new location and under new ownership, with the vision of Leslie Bowman of Wells Street Design. The shop offers 40-plus lines spanning custom furniture, lighting, window treatments, decorative accessories and gifts. (725 Village Center Dr, Burr Ridge, Illinois)

South and Southeast
Apure, the first architectural lighting brand to collaborate with Porsche Design Studio, recently launched its headquarters in Miami, and is rolling out 15 showrooms both nationally and internationally this year, including locations in Southampton, Boston, Chicago, Milan, Rome, Zurich and Bogotá. (7636 NE 4th Ct, Miami)

Posse Furniture opened their sixth showroom earlier this month at Grizzel & Mann at the Atlanta Decorative Arts Center. The space will showcase the brand’s furniture pieces, and joins other locations in Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, New York, and Hollywood, Florida. Authentic Provence recently opened its expanded space in West Palm Beach. The new showroom features an additional 2,000 square feet, including an exterior space called The Secret Garden. Authentic Provence sells custom-made European garden antiques, flooring, architectural elements, sculptures, accessories, and lighting sourced from Europe. Brazilian designer Jader Almeida has opened a shop within a shop at Artefacto Home in Aventura, Florida. The space spotlights pieces from Almeida’s 1960s-inspired curvy seats, minimalistic lighting fixtures, and stools created of cork and marble. The pieces, which have never before been showcased as one cohesive collection within the U.S., are exposed and sold through the Artefacto brand. ​(17651 Biscayne Blvd, Aventura, Florida)

Paris

Kinnasand has opened a showroom in Paris’ Haut Marais neighborhood. The shop will offer its curtain and rug collections in a minimalistic setting with a Scandinavian aesthetic, featuring furniture from Naoto Fukasawa for Maruni, Bouroullec for Vitra, Eero Saarinen for Knoll, and Jean Nouvel for Molteni; lighting by FLOS; and curtains by Kinnasand. (33 Rue Charlot)
