Nearly 20 new design stores and showrooms to check out

It’s evident that business is good as nearly 20 new retail stores and trade showrooms have opened or are getting set to open across the country and abroad in the next few months. This list is part of an ongoing series of showroom openings by region, highlighting new resources available to designers, this time in New York, California, Connecticut, Chicago, Denver, Toronto and Dubai.

New York

The D&D Building is set to welcome a few new showrooms later this year, including Christopher Spitzmiller, Scalamandre and George Smith. In addition, Zoffany is expanding its showroom on the fourth floor. (979 Third Avenue, New York City)

West Elm Hamptons showroom

West Elm has opened a new retail store on Montauk Highway in the Hamptons. The 7,120-sf store located at The Water Mill Shoppes, opened just in time for summer with an assortment of specially curated furniture, home décor, gifts and artist collaborations. Restoration Hardware Flatiron Gallery

Construction is now complete at the newly expanded Restoration Hardware Flatiron Gallery. With two new floors, the now 30,000-sf store features an entire Ben Soleimani rug showroom, professional interior design services and the full Restoration Hardware 2014 collections. Contemporary home furnishings brand Lazzoni has opened a 5,700 square foot flagship store in SoHo, offering a collection of furniture designed for apartment or loft living. (154 West 18 Street, New York City)

Tibetano Flatiron District showroom

Bespoke hand-made custom carpets company Tibetano has opened a new showroom in the Flatiron District. At the new showroom, designers may specify any color and pattern combination in their choice of wool, silk, cashmere, bamboo and other plant fibers. Oversized carpets are also a specialty at the new store. (27 West 20 Street, Suite 307A, New York City)

Interior designer Buddy Warren has opened up a namesake shop on the Lower East Side featuring hand-made items as well as antiques and a coffee shop. (171 Chrystie Street at Rivington Street, New York City)

California

Los Angeles-based interior designer Tamara Kaye-Honey has opened a second House of Honey store location in Montecito, California. The new 600-sf shop in San Ysidro Village offers a full range of interior design services as well as a carefully curated mix of new, vintage and bespoke furnishings, tableware, lighting, decorative objects and more. Daltile and Mohawk Group's San Francisco showroom

Sister brands Daltile and Mohawk Group have opened a new 10,000-sf design studio in the San Francisco design district. The studio features products from both brands as well as communal worktables for designers and a loose tile library. (212 Utah Street, San Francisco) 

Scalamandre has announced its return to the Pacific Design Center and will be closing its showroom in the La Cienega Design Quarter. The PDC showroom will allow for a comprehensive presentation of the company’s fabrics, wallcoverings and trims along with additional furniture, lighting and decorative accessories. The showroom is set to open later this year. (8687 Melrose Avenue, West Hollywood, California)

DEDON, manufacturer of handcrafted outdoor furniture, also recently relocated its Los Angeles showroom from the La Cienega Design Quarter to a new space spanning 2,600 square feet at the South West corner of the Pacific Design Center.

Connecticut

Ameico has converted an abandoned telephone exchange building in New Milford, Connecticut, into its new showroom. The 6,000-sf space includes a library and offers accessories, gifts and more for the home. (29 Church Street, New Milford, Connecticut)

Chicago

Parker James opened its first U.S. stand-alone showroom in Suite 1586 of the Merchandise Mart in Chicago just in time for the ICFA Market this month. Zuo Modern Contemporary also relocated to a new showroom in Suite 15-101, a space approximately twice the size of its former space. (222 West Merchandise Mart Plaza, Chicago, Illinois)

Denver

Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams Denver showroom

Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams has opened a new 7,000-sf “Signature Store” in the Cherry Creek Shopping Center in Denver. (3000 E 1st Avenue, Denver, Colorado)

Dubai

Interior designer Perla Lichi has opened a new 6,000-sf office and design showroom in Dubai. The space features vignettes with Lichi's original furniture designs, and custom wall and window treatments produced by her in-house manufacturing facilities. Toronto

Carlisle Wide Plank Floors Toronto showroom

Carlisle Wide Plank Floors opened its first Canadian showroom in Toronto at the Source of Furniture & Accessories (SOFA) building. Showcasing Carlisle’s newest collections and the most-requested custom wide plank hardwood floors, the company’s showroom is a destination for flooring design and inspiration and provides convenient access to the longest, widest center-cut plank floors in the industry.
