As our Product Development Associate, you will work across internal teams and external stakeholders to scale product development and expand our beautiful, high-quality assortment and push Maiden Home into new categories to rapidly grow our product line. Responsibilities
● Collaborate with the Product Design Senior Manager and Product Development Senior Associate to design and develop new products (or improve upon our existing assortment) with sketches, 3D Rhino models and design-level 2D CAD drawings
● Assist the Product Team as a point of contact between internal stakeholders and external manufacturing partners for development of new products
● Help facilitate that the quoting and sampling process proceeds in a timely, organized manner according to the Product Development calendar, allowing us to efficiently launch new products throughout the year
● Provide clear and concise technical feedback to our manufacturing partners, including detailed review of product prototypes, shop drawings and production progress photos
● Work alongside the Product team in recording and tracking our Product assortment into our newly adopted database system
● Be an advocate for the elevation of our product’s quality and design standard
Qualifications
● Between 2 and 5 years of experience in domestic or international furniture design, industrial design, product development, and/or product operations; furniture start-up experience is a plus
● Experience in a home retail or boutique commercial furnishings manufacturing organization or interior design firm is required
● Must have seen product, in a quantity of >100, move from concept to market /end- user; possess a strong knowledge of furniture design, construction and materiality through the lens of production; inclusive of upholstered seating, dining, bedroom and storage
● Able to critically review furniture shop drawings received from manufacturing partners
● Connections within the industry, including manufacturers and material resources, are
considered an asset
● Strong interest in a production-forward role, grounded in product development
● Passionate about furniture and design; knowledgeable about design history as well as what’s new and next
● Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and Rhino is required
● Working knowledge of data management or PLM systems such as Fohlio, Spexx and
Specsources considered a notable asset
● Proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Office and Google Suite a must
● Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
