Our interior design firm is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Design Assistant and Project Manager to join our team. In this role, you will support the design process from concept development through project execution, ensuring that each space reflects innovative ideas, functional layouts, and aesthetic excellence. Your enthusiasm for interior design, combined with technical expertise, is essential to this role. The ideal candidate has experience at a high-end interior design firm and is eager to take on a more hands-on, high-responsibility role within a small, design-driven practice. This role is suited to someone highly motivated and detail-oriented, who is comfortable working with autonomy, taking initiative, and contributing meaningfully across all phases of a project.
Responsibilities:
• Act as a trusted extension of the principal by ensuring smooth execution
• Support projects through all design phases from concept and schematic design through installation
• Take notes during site visits and client meetings, record decisions and take initiative on follow up
• Support design development through researching and sourcing fabrics, furniture and fixtures
• Contribute fresh ideas and creativity to elevate designs
• Create floor plans, furniture layouts and elevations
• Prepare client presentations
• Maintain paint, lighting, plumbing and hardware schedules
• Handle vendor/contractor coordination, site visits and installations
• Maintain visibility across each project, stepping in where needed to provide direction and resolution
• Act as an onsite contact for vendors, contractors and clients
• Weekly project trackers and action lists
Qualifications
• Prior experience in residential interior design
• Excellent communication skills and professionalism
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail
