The Antique Garden Furniture Fair will open at New York Botanical Garden May 4 through May 7, the only show of its kind selling antiques and rarities for the garden and the garden room. Event designer Bronson van Wyck is serving as designer chairman, creating a design based on the Edouard Manet painting “Le Déjeuner sur l’herbe” (“The Luncheon on the Grass”).
Open to the public, the fair will feature a specialty plant sale, offering unusual plants including shrubs and trees, perennials, annuals, and herbs, and a number of exhibitors and experts will be on hand. Among the items that will be on offer are outdoor sculpture, fountains, sundials, birdbaths, gates, garden benches, antique wicker, urns and planters, botanical prints and architectural ornaments.
The opening-night preview party on May 4 will host some 600 guests with interior and landscape design, art, philanthropy and architecture backgrounds, and will feature a silent auction and the Collectors’ Plant Sale, offering rare horticulture from NYBG’s own collections.
