Running September 7 to 27 at the Somerset House, with 30-plus participating countries and territories, the first London Design Biennale will include installations designed and curated by DAMnº Magazine (Belgium), German Design Council, The MAK and Austria Design Net, Moscow Design Museum, Triennale Design Museum (Italy), India Design Forum, Southern Guild (South Africa), The Japan Foundation, Victoria and Albert Museum (U.K.), and Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum (USA).
The event will encompass installations, innovations, artworks and proposed design solutions, all tackling the concepts of sustainability, migration, pollution, energy, cities and social equality. Designers, architects, scientists, artists, writers and others will take part in the first-ever show, which will also feature a series of discussions. Nations spanning six continents will present newly commissioned works that explore the theme “Utopia by Design.”
