The IFDA Educational Foundation is seeking design grads to apply for its Cliff Young Ltd. 2017 Contemporary-Modern Furniture Student Design Competition.
“The challenge is to create a classic piece of modern furniture,” says the organization, and it names the qualities it is seeking in winning designs: “Classical references, clean design, sophisticated details, innovative combinations of finishes, textures, materials. Hip and edgy, warm and organic, comfort, timeless simplicity (not minimal), functionality and aesthetics within a modern lifestyle.”
The prize is $3,000, plus a trip to New York in September 2017 to attend the awards ceremony at What’s New What’s Next. The winning design may also be produced.
