Brittany Hakimfar’s refined blend of violet-veined marble, wine-colored velvet and deep purple paint

In the BOH series What I Love, we’re asking designers to build us a mood board of what’s inspiring them right now.

Brittany Hakimfar likes to let the materials do the talking in her interiors. The founder of Philadelphia’s Far Studio allows tactile textures and organic motifs to take center stage in her earthy yet elegant designs. “The inherent sophistication of natural materials will always shine through in an arrangement,” she tells Business of Home.

True to form, the designer drew inspiration from richly veined marbles—particularly lavender-hued Calacatta Viola and bold black-and-white Nero Marquina—when fashioning her current flat lay. “The color tones within each stone helped guide the selection of fabrics and finishes,” she says.

Hakimfar describes the final scheme as “cohesive and visually captivating,” punctuated by eye-catching all-natural pieces—including honey-hued zellige tile and samples for dark brass counter stools—that celebrate the raw beauty of nature. “The palette exudes a sense of organic refinement, while still supplying a touch of glamour,” says the designer.

Here, she breaks down the details, from sculptural ceramic bud vases to emerald green mohair upholstery.
