‘Indefinite Articles’ at R. Hughes
In an event that attracted over 150 of the South’s top designers, architects and editors, R. Hughes hosted the opening reception for “Indefinite Articles,” an exhibit of new works by Atlanta artist Blake Weeks.
On display in the moody, den-like gallery of the 9,000-square-foot showroom in the Atlanta Decorative Arts Center, the series of glass-encased sculptures was celebrated by designers including Susan Ferrier, Melanie Turner, Smith Hanes, Robert Brown, Michael Habachy, Keith Arnold, James Wheeler, Amy Morris, Susan Bozeman, Beth Webb, Pam Sessions, Sherry Hart, Oliver Carter, John Oetgen, Mark Williams, Niki Papadopoulos, Douglas Hilton, Cindy Smith, Heather Smith, Whitney Smith Johnson, Casey Keesee and Bobby McAlpine.
“R. Hughes provides the most visually effective and handsome shell to house my work—and also to house this group of peers and friends,” said Weeks. “I’m so pleased to get to work with this group; it’s been a perfect pairing and a perfect night.”
The assemblages of precious gems and found objects, including bone and feathers, have been collected by Weeks over the course of his life. They will remain on display through the end of the year.
